FRIDAY 17 August 2018
Dear Parents

Next week is our Rondebosch Derby week with hockey and rugby matches and boys will have a chance to see the College 1st XV game at the College after the U13A game on Saturday. We encourage boys to attend that as it is always an exciting game with great crowd support. This is followed by a few tournaments and the end of season Inter-House hockey and rugby events.

We have been playing inter-class soccer at lunch times through the term and we start afternoon soccer during the week of 27 August until the end of term. There will be a soccer skills programme, Inter-House soccer and a number of matches against other schools. The boys always look forward to the soccer season and we encourage all of them to participate.

Thankfully we have had some more rain. May there be much more!

Kind regards

Outreach

A huge thank you to everyone who has sent in knitted squares or completed blankets. These have gone to the old age home in Lavender Hill. More squares and blankets are welcome.

Thanks also to those of you who have sent in second-hand school shoes and wool for a crochet project at a Khayelitsha school. Some of last year's market day money has been used to bolster the wool donation. More shoes, wool and hooks are still welcome.

Entries are flying in for Pup Idols 2018. This project is in aid of the Guide Dogs Association. The cost is R5 per entry. Cat and other animal photos are welcome.

Next Friday 24 August is Civvies Day. This term, we'll be collecting dog and cat food. Leashes, bowls, blankets, brushes, etc are all welcome. The food will be donated to the Mdzananda Animal Clinic in Khayelitsha, the Prince Albert Animal Welfare and other local shelters.

Finally, a reminder that we are still collecting bread tags (Breadtags for Wheelchairs) and plastic bottle tops (Operation Smile). The wheelchairs will benefit patients at Tygerberg Hospital. Tags and tops may be dropped off at the library.
