Dear Parents
I hope that class meetings went well this week for Grades 3 - 5, 6 and 7 meetings take place next week. All the extra-mural activities are now well underway and the boys are busy.
I have spoken to boys about security – walking up to practices and fixtures in groups or pairs, being sensible and alert and no iPads on view. Grade 3s are always walked as a group to College, managed by coaches. We need your support in two areas related to their extra-murals: please do not lift them to College or Lutgensvale; it is important that they develop independence and the responsibility that comes with this. We also do not allow parents at sport practices; a bit like lessons, this is where your son must be free to be himself, make mistakes and not have practice sessions analysed or discussed with him. Please do attend his matches if you are able to get there; that they do enjoy. And don’t beat yourself up if you cannot attend every match; it is also good for boys to play without family support for a change and a chance to tell you about the game purely from their perspective.
The first Class Reps meeting of the year is next Thursday morning, 30 January in the VDB dining room at 07h30. We have moved it from Tuesday so that the Grade 7 Class Reps can attend having only been finalised the night before. I ask that class reps do try to attend - there are quite a few matters to address, both from my side and the PA Committee.
