Dear Parents
Last week I referred to our new Library and Learning Centre which is fast becoming a certainty and plans are at an advanced stage. Next week the Trust, as part of the 175 Campaign, will be sending out brochures to every boy here and at Pre-Prep and plans for the Centre will be on display at school. It is a very exciting project, the first of the 175 Campaign, and one which is going to add a significant dimension to the academic programme.
As we informed you earlier we are now releasing test marks and marks for some of the boys’ tasks in subjects when they become available (as the College have done for a while). These are just a guide as to how your son is doing and are in no way a final mark. Chris Groom, our Head of Academics, has listed a few more points on this. See HERE.
In the light of current media reports about child safety I spoke to the boys in assembly this morning about this, emphasizing three points:
- knowing who is allowed or likely to fetch them;
- not accepting any approach from a stranger and moving away/reporting it to a safe adult (teacher, secretary, parent they know);
- always waiting inside the school grounds when the main rush has dissipated at pick up time/not walking alone to or from College.
We do need to be extra-cautious without alarming or disempowering our boys. I am sure you will reinforce this with your son.
Finally, I will be on long leave for the month of September and Rob Riches will act as Head in my absence.
I wish you all a very happy Spring month and a good holiday in the first week of October.
Kind regards
GREG BROWN
