FRIDAY 8 March 2019
Dear Parents

This week’s rain has been a real treat but we have to admit it would not have been welcome last Friday evening. We were very fortunate to have wonderful weather for last week’s Carnival.

It was the first time using Lutgensvale, which did provide more space and therefore more activities. Organising a Carnival is a massive undertaking and even more so on Founder’s Day when there are so many OD-school sports matches and reunions taking place across the campus with all the demands that that places on facilities and staff.

I want to thank and congratulate the organizing committee led by the PA Chair, Charmaine Cheminais, for their months of planning and work, all of which paid off so handsomely. Charmaine has asked me to thank the following for sponsorships and substantial discounts: Petersen’s Lifestyle Furniture, Federal Guarding, Touareg Tents, Rosy’s Hiring and Dixon Electrical; our Estate Supervisor, Jerome Wolfaardt and his team, and then the class reps who “exceeded all expectations’. And, of course, thank you to you all, your families and sons for your support, not only in the sense of the financial, but in joining in an occasion of community and spending time together.

The Committee are very keen to provide further feedback to you as soon as all the final invoices have been received and processed.

While everyone was enjoying the Carnival, our U13A Water Polo team was at the Grey Water Polo Tournament where they acquitted themselves extremely well, coming 3rd in the tournament. They were a real credit to the Prep all round. This weekend our 1st Tennis team is at Grey in Port Elizabeth for the Grey Tennis Festival.

This weekend is the last of our summer fixtures. Please check arrangements for this week’s extra-murals as we do have Cricket House matches and some early winter sport skills sessions.

On Friday, your son’s Industry Report (Grades 4-7) will appear on MyBishopsLife. This will give you an indication of your son’s progress in each subject in terms of homework, quality of work, class participation, etc.

Enjoy the weekend.

Kind regards
