FRIDAY 26 March 2021

Dear Parents

Thank you for your support this term. I am sorry that our contact still has to be so virtual or just a glimpse through the school gate. This is especially difficult for new families across the school and we have some ideas to address this in the new term.

Industry reports for Grades 4 - 7 have been released to MyBishopsLife. Should you experience login difficulties, please email portal@bishops.org.za for assistance. This inbox will be monitored daily until Wednesday 31 March.

The Industry Report provides information on homework completion, work ethic, behaviour and so on. If you wish to view your son's first term marks, please select the Academic menu in MyBishopsLife and choose Marks from the drop-down menu provided. On the Marks screen, please click on Task Breakdown by Subject for Current Cycle and then on each subject listed.

Marks will be updated on MyBishopsLife throughout the second term and the June mid-year academic report will reflect the overall results for the first semester of the year.

Please see extra-mural arrangements. We will move predominantly to our winter programme but our emphasis in the first 3 weeks will be on fitness, conditioning and skills.

The boys and staff are ready for a holiday. And I hope many of you will be able to have something of a break. I have spoken to the boys about remaining vigilant around Covid protocols especially in the light of the predicted 3rd wave. But in truth, we know that we, the adults, and older teenagers are the "spreaders" and are especially at risk if we attend potentially "super spreader" events. So, hopefully without sounding "preachy", I respectfully ask you to be very careful during the coming weeks. If the members of our community remain cautious and vigilant we have the best chance of providing our boys as full and enriching an experience as possible in these challenging times.

I wish you safe travels, a Blessed Easter and some time of relaxation. To our Jewish families, a Blessed Passover.

Stay safe.

Kind regards

GREG BROWN

Art News

Both boys and parents thoroughly enjoyed the Street Art tours in Salt River guided by Kate Kane-Briggs on 13 and 20 March.

These tours will be repeated again later in the year, for those who missed out first time around. Keep a look out for emails from Sue Johns!

A Big Thank You
Your generosity has once again been overwhelming! The Easter eggs collected will be donated to St Paul's Primary, Athwood Primary, Parkfields Primary and VUSA. VUSA will, in turn, make up Easter egg baskets to take to the Red Cross Children's hospital.
