Dear Parents
Boys and staff have returned refreshed after a short week of downtime and it is wonderful to have all our boys back at Prep and Pre-Prep now. Noise levels are higher with the Grade 3s and Pre-Prep but the boys are happy, some telling me that they were so pleased to see some boys “that they had not seen for six months!”. College now have four grades back at a time with Grade 8s and 9s alternating on a weekly basis.
Also exciting for our boys is the comprehensive sports programme we have now rolled out and, by all accounts, the boys are loving it.
TRANSFORMATION PROCESS
As we reported last term Lele Mehlomakulu has been appointed as the consultant to guide and facilitate this next stage of our transformation journey. HERE is the link to a letter from Lele for your information. Please support the process and respond to our request for opinion and input. The more people who respond, the more authentic the data and the better chance we have of making a real, long-term change for the better.
ONLINE ACTIVITY
I remain concerned that the boys are spending far too much time on their cell phones and/or iPads particularly as a result of our period of lockdown, and increased time that they have had for private recreation over the last six months. There is a danger that some of the usage is inappropriate so I will be writing to you shortly about controls on our boys’ mobile devices. We believe strongly that boys’ mobile devices at Prep school age do need careful monitoring so that they learn what is appropriate and not. Ultimately, they will need to develop their own measure of self-control with the tools to make the correct judgement calls.
WELCOME
Welcome to Mr Innocent Mhura. He joins us as our iPad Learning Assistant and Technician.
Enjoy the weekend. Next Saturday is Super Saturday and we hope to see all the boys at school playing hockey, rugby and soccer.
Kind regards
GREG BROWN
