Dear Parents
We are at present very busy planning for term 4. I am pleased to report that the number of boys returning to school continues to increase. At the Pre-Prep and in Grade 3, numbers at school are close to 100% and from Grade 4, approaching 95%. We can certainly see that boys are relaxed and happy to be back.
From the start of next term, we will bring the Grade 3s back in full classes every day. We can manage this with some venue changes, moving technology, etc. We hope to do the same in Pre-Prep but it will have to be managed slightly differently.
Some of you – and boys certainly – might be a bit frustrated by how we are rolling out sport and other extra-murals: at a slow pace. This is deliberate as we have carefully ensured what can be controlled and what not and what the medical advice is. We are happy how the one sports day as well as how clubs are working. From next term we will try to provide as normal a sports programme as possible, expecting boys to do at least two days of sport. Social distancing, sanitising and masks will still be used as far as possible and we will have to change rules and format in some cases. We are also planning intra-school competitions as well as inter-house. Both summer and winter sports will be included although it does look as though spectators will not yet be allowed, nor will we play inter-schools fixtures.
We are looking at all the special fourth term events: Carols, Prizegiving, Leavers’ Dinner, go-kart races, etc. Whichever of these events we are able to do, they will be very different and an important priority will be to ensure that our Grade 7s have some form of a proper farewell and ending to their years at the Prep.
All the best.
Kind regards
GREG BROWN
