Dear Parents

I think this has been one of the most difficult newsletters I have had to write in the 30+ years that I have been involved in Education.  The unknown journey that we find ourselves on, is unsettling for us all.  We ask that you be mindful of your movements, gatherings and interactions with others. Slowing the spread is beneficial to us all and our social responsibility.

There have been many parents requesting work for this time that school is closing.  We have prepared a link for work should we not be able to return to school after the official school holidays. We are regarding the extra two weeks, as are the state schools, as an extended holiday.  We will be ready for any type of learning platform should we be required to provide work after 14th April, which is when school is due to reopen.  In the meantime, please feel free to take a look at some of these 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7   ideas that may help you through this long holiday time.  Grade 2 boys took some homework packs home today so if your son was not at school, please try and pop in to collect his books and homework folders from their lockers. This will help when work is sent out should we not return on 14th April as work in these workbooks will be set by the teachers.

Going outdoors is not cancelled, listening to music and dancing is not cancelled, quality time with our families is not cancelled, reading a book is not cancelled, sharing with friends is not cancelled, singing out loud is not cancelled, laughing has not been cancelled, sharing HOPE with others has not been cancelled. Let's EMBRACE what we have. From Kelly's Treehouse.

Take this time to connect as families. We will be in communication should there be any changes closer to the time of returning to school. Take care.

Kind regards

Tuesday 14 April

School due to re-open (parents will be notified if any change)

School will start at 8am.

Tuesday 14 April Extra mural activities
Due to the extension of the school holidays, sport will start on the first day of Term 2, as per the online calendar. Please send sports kit along should your son have sport on a Tuesday in the Winter terms.

Easter Eggs

Due to the extension of the school holidays, we are unable to visit the school as previously arranged, to deliver the Easter Eggs. What we have done is sent these eggs to the school so that they can be distributed before they close on Wednesday. Apologies to those parents who had put their son's name down to come along. We will find another opportunity to visit Athwood. The balance of the eggs will be distributed to some old age homes and shelters as well as to Meals on Wheels and some surrounding hospitals. Thank you all for your most generous contributions to this initiative!

As promised, those that would like to be part of our knitting initiative.  Please go ahead and start knitting your squares.  Double knit wool, Size 4 needles and 30 stitiches. Knit until you have a square and cast off.  Once you have some completed squares, feel free to drop off at reception. If you cannot knit and could sew the squares into small blankets or crochet around the edges of one sewn together, please chat to Babalwa and she will advise you or drop me an email and I will arrange for collection. Thank you in advance for your kindness in this outreach.

Lent Prayer 1

The Fast Life... A Lentern Prayer
Fast from judging others;
Feast on Christ dwelling in them.
Fast from fear of illness;
Feast on the healing power of God.
Fast from words that pollute;
Feast on speech that purifies.
Fast from discontent;
Feast on gratitude.
Fast from anger;
Feast on patience.
Fast from pessimism;
Feast on hope.
Fast from negatives;
Feast on encouragement.
Fast from bitterness;
Feast on forgiveness.
Fast from self-concern;
Feast on compassion.
Fast from suspicion;
Feast on truth.
Fast from gossip;
Feast on purposeful silence.
Fast from problems that overwhelm;
Feast on prayer that sustains.
Fast from anxiety;
Feast on faith.
