Dear Parents

We have spent this past week welcoming the new 2020 Grade N boys to Bishops.  We trust that they will have a wonderful journey with us. It is quite overwhelming to think that these little boys will be the Matrics of 2034! In the very same week, we hosted a Coffee Connection morning, initiating questions from present Grade 2 parents for staff from the Prep school.  Thank you so much to all of those parents that attended and to Mr Groom, Mr Riches, Mr Scott, Mrs Di Trapani and Mrs Harrod for being available to chat.

As a school we are continually looking to update our methods, thinking and delivery of material, making experiences real and as practical as possible.  All this, while covering important issues such as respect, manners and being aware of what is right and wrong.

What we all want is young men who are happy, creative, energetic and kind.  We need our boys to turn into the young men who will care about others, and be part of the solutions of the twenty-first century. And in the meantime, we need them to do the dishes and tidy their rooms!

Wishing you all a restful, special weekend with your family.

Kind regards

Food For Thought

From Matthew 5:1-2, the Lord teaches us these things:

  • Our life will be flourishing and happier when we let go of our attachment to worldly wealth and by God’s grace are poor in spirit and content with what He has given us.

  • Our life will be flourishing and happier when we are no longer addicted to pleasant emotions but by God’s grace can accept that there is a time for mourning, and it is important for our growth.

  • Our life will be flourishing and happier when, by God’s grace, we are no longer consumed by the desire for revenge but rather have authority over our anger.

  • Our life will be flourishing and happier when, by God’s grace, our desires are set on good things rather than sinful ones and eternal things rather than transitory ones.

  • Our life will be flourishing and happier when, by God’s grace, we are able to be merciful with the very mercy we have received from Him.

  • Our life will be flourishing and happier when, by God’s grace, we are single-hearted (pure of heart); our life will then be about one thing rather than hundreds of contradictory things.

  • Our life will be flourishing and happier when, by God’s grace, we want the things that make for peace.

  • Our life will be flourishing and happier even when we are persecuted, for by God’s grace this means that we are no longer addicted to the honours and love of this world and are free of its grasp.

Every blessing
