Dear Parents

Today tugged on the heartstrings of many at the Pre-Prep. We bravely said goodbye to the Grade 2 boys who are on an exciting journey to the Prep school, but also final goodbyes to many staff members. Although we have done official farewells, it is never easy to say goodbye to colleagues, interns or staff that have been so integral in the daily running of the school, and we are so grateful for the opportunity to have had such wonderful people working alongside our boys. Since my last newsletter, we are excited to announce two new interns that will be joining us next year and Ms Dautie will be moving across to the Prep school with the Grade 2 group of boys for 2019.

We proudly handed out 6 gentleman award badges to Grade 2 boys. We trust that they will treasure their badges as they were proudly acknowledged by their teachers and peers.

 

All at the Pre-Prep would like to wish you the most wonderful festive season, safe travels if you are going away and blessings in abundance as we end off a busy, yet wonderful year.  To all those Grade 2 boys and parents who are leaving for the Prep, and took time to come and say goodbye to me, a special thanks to you.

16 January 2019 Back to School

The 2019 school year will start at 08:00.

 

The day ends at:

12:15 for Grade N;

12:30 for Grade R;

13:00 for Grade 1;

13:10 for Grade 2.
16 January 2019 Sport 2019

Choice forms will be sent out on the first day of term. Please consult the online Extramural Programme on the Pre-Prep website. Please note there might be unavoidable changes to this programme before the start of the year.

Sport and the extramural programme will commence in the second week of term.
17 & 18 January 2019

First Day Photographs

There will be an opportunity to have First Day photographs taken for individuals and families. Please feel free to include any siblings as well. The photographer will be at the school from around 07:30 (before school) and around 12:00 (after school) near the Grade R area and Pre-Prep Hall.
21 January 2019 Grade 1 and 2 Parents' Meetings

These meetings will take place at 6pm and the venues will be confirmed in January.
22 January 2019 Grades N and R Parents' Meetings

These meetings will take place at 6pm and the venues will be confirmed in January.
TAKE NOTE

School Shop Closure 2018 and Opening 2019

The School Shop will close on 14 December 2018 and open again on 3rd January 2019

 

Hours are as follows:

07:30 - 16:30 - Monday to Thursday

07:30 - 16:00 - Friday

08:00 - 12:00 - Saturday
Photographs

All your 2018 school photographs (individual portraits, classes, sports teams and cultural groups) are available for purchase from www.thatsme.co.za. Please go to the site and click on Register (new users) or Parent Login (existing users). Your own children's photos will then automatically appear on your new profile page.

Online Calendar

The Pre-Prep online calendar for term 1 2019 is now available on the Pre-Prep website. This is a live Calendar so please consult the calendar on a regular basis should any changes occur.

Prayer Meetings

Meetings take place every Thursday during the term and will start again next year on Thursday, 25 January from 7:45 in the Art Room..

Found - Wrist Watches

There are a few wrist watches that have been handed in during the year which have not been claimed. Please contact the Pre-Prep office should you think one of them might be yours.
HIGHLIGHTS
Music Recital
We were thoroughly entertained last Thursday by the boys from the Music School. They had spent weeks preparing for this and their hard work certainly paid off because the concert was absolutely magnificent. Well done to all the boys and a big thank you to Mrs Swanich.
Dog Show
The boys were once again totally enthralled during the most impressive dog show last Friday, performed by the Incredible Dog Show from DogzCool. The highly trained dogs were put through their paces and the boys were also educated how to train and respond to their own pets and strange dogs.
Athwood Burger Day
It was so delightful and gratifying to receive this amazing email from Nisreen Abrahams thanking the boys and parents who helped at the Athwood Burger Day. Well done and a big thank you to all of you!
