Dear Parents
Further on in this newsletter you will see photographs of last Saturday’s VUSA Christmas party as well as thanks to those who volunteered and made it so special. Organised by Grade 6 and 7 parents, together with VUSA staff, it is an amazing example of generosity. So many parents donated money, goods, their time and skills and 40 of our Grade 6 and 7 boys arrived and joined the party. 160 boys and girls on the VUSA programme certainly went home very happy and excited. A fitting end to a year of rugby, academic enrichment and a number of different outings.
Thank you to all those involved in the VUSA year, staff, parents and boys, who have contributed and interacted in any way, large or small.
Our Carol Services were greatly enjoyed and the shorter Order of Service with both services on the same night seem to have been well received. The service was inspiring and simple with the beauty of the music and animated narration taking us to the essence of the Christmas message of joy, hope and peace.
This first week of the enrichment programme has had the boys abuzz with so many different activities and outings. Next week continues in the same vein. We close for the year on Thursday with our Prizegiving Ceremony – please note that all boys are expected to attend. All parents are invited to join us in the last event of the year.
Academic reports will be available on MyBishopsLife on Monday, 12 December, if not sooner.
Enjoy the weekend …. and the last week of school.
Kind regards
GREG BROWN

VUSA Christmas Party |
 |
The VUSA Christmas party, now an annual event planned by the Grade 6 and 7 Bishops parents, has become a highlight for the VUSA children. A wonderful afternoon of children having fun at Lutgensvale, playing games and having delicious food. Thank you, Sue Johns and the Grade 5 boys who decorated the gift bags so beautifully. Thank you to all the sponsors (Shoprite & Checkers, Butlers Pizza, Sir Fruit, Trendy Trees, Imagemakers, Pura, Homechoice, Rubro) for donating products. Thank you to all the Bishops families and PA who contributed to the event and the Bishops boys who joined in the festivities. Last but certainly not least, thank you to Tersia Velosa and her amazing team of parents for arranging this magical day for our children. Please see the video HERE. |
Weekly Cricket Awards |
 |
The Herschelle Gibbs Fielding Award went to Ryan McLea, for taking a very good high catch to swing the T20 final in his team’s favour. The Vince van der Bijl Bowling Award went to Evan West for taking 7 wickets for 8 runs in a match winning performance against a strong batting line up. The Jonathan Bird Batting Award went to Luca Mulder, for scoring 38 not out to help his team post a competitive total, a great display of stroke play.
Well done, boys! |
