FRIDAY 9 September 2022
Dear Parents

SOCCER
These last few weeks have been extremely busy, busier than normal for the last month of a 3rd term. We have had more soccer fixtures than ever before, something that we wanted and we can be proud of. But there will be valuable lessons to be learnt as to how to fit in all the winter sport, inter-house as well as tournaments, play rehearsals and more beside. It has been difficult, so we will review carefully and try to spread certain events across the season next year. We will also work closely with other schools around a few fixture difficulties we have experienced.

What is good to see is the whole-hearted enthusiasm of the boys in their involvement and take up.

HOCKEY
Last night we enjoyed the U12 Day/Night Hockey Tournament, the 18th at Bishops and all organised by Mr Murray Anderson and sponsored (also for the 18th time) by Sporting Chance. Huge thanks to Mr Anderson, who was assisted by Mr Khwezi Mqomboti and many Bishops staff, on an enormously successful and happy tournament; a real celebration of hockey, sportsmanship and the excitement of sport.

ENSEMBLE CONCERT
Next week we celebrate music with our Ensemble Concert in the Memorial Chapel.  It will be a wonderful window into the work of our ensembles this year: String, Brass, Wind Band, Vocal and Marimbas.

PA COMMITTEE
The new Prep and Pre-Prep Parents Association Committee met this morning and I am pleased to announce the office bearers:

Chair                  Nida Hendrickse
Treasurer            Shanita Sam
Secretary            Karine Young

Thank you to them for being willing to take on these roles. We look forward to the contribution they will no doubt make, together with the other members of the Committee, within the Bishops community, as well as with our partnership schools and projects.

Enjoy your weekend (with a free Saturday).

Kind regards

GREG BROWN
