Dear Parents

ERRATA
My apologies for giving out the incorrect dates for two very important whole school events in the last two weeks of term.  These are the correct dates:
  • Carol Service                     Tuesday, 28 November (evening)
  • Prizegiving                        Thursday, 7 December 09h00

BOK FRIDAY
There were many tired boys and staff on Monday, some staff because they had completed the Cape Town Marathon the day before, but for most of us, tired because of a late Sunday night watching the Springboks beat France in a nerve-wracking one point victory and making it to the semi-final.

So the boys were very excited to hear the announcement yesterday that tomorrow would be another Bok Friday – civvies and something green, although anyone wanting to support the English rose is most welcome.

We announced Bok Friday at Music Assembly where we had just heard one of our boys play the harp, the first performance on a harp this year at a music assembly. A few boys guessed correctly that the harp belongs to the music family of strings. Boys were encouraged to consider the harp as an instrument, one that we have introduced over the last few years.

Best wishes for the weekend.

Kind regards

NEWS
Charlton House News
The Charlton House Grade 4 boys had an outing to Grand West last Friday where they played lazer tag, visited the games arcade and had a meal at the Spur. They had an amazing time having lots of fun together! Please visit our Facebook page for more photos.

Spotlight on Mathematics

The Mathematics department debunked the myth that Maths is boring by entertaining the school for an hour and 20 minutes with some fun activities during our Spotlight assembly last Friday. The boys were engaged with Maths Magic tricks performed by our Grade 6 boys, presentations of fun facts involving Mathematics, an interhouse 3D shape building contest, the Rubiks Cube challenge won by Ethan Lee Pan in Grade 5 with in an incredible 16,96 seconds, a countdown calculation challenge and of course the most inspiring mathematics jokes by Rupert and Jasper. Well done to all involved for creating such a buzz around Maths.

Water Polo News

Our U13A Water Polo team participated in the SACS Tournament last week. Our team played very well and made it to the quarter-finals. They finished 8th out of 28 schools, a result we can be proud of. Congratulations to Troy Webb who has been selected to represent WP Polo at the year-end Inter-Provincial Tournament and to Adam Tanfield and Jonah de Villiers who have been selected as non-travelling reserves.
