Dear Parents
ASH WEDNESDAY
This was one of those rare occurrences with Valentine’s Day and Ash Wednesday falling on the same day. Quite a contrast with the start of Lent in the Christian calendar and a tradition of red heart-shaped chocolates being gifted.
A reminder that, due to two grades being away yesterday, we will hold a Lenten Service in place of our traditional Ash Wednesday Service next Thursday, 22 February at 11h00. The Service will include the Imposition of Ashes. It is a Family Service and you are cordially invited; members of your extended family are very welcome too.
SPORTSMANSHIP
Following on last week’s newsletter and the talk of manners, I was thrilled to receive an email from a Durbanville Prep parent complimenting our U11B cricket team on the true sportsmanship exhibited in their Saturday match. The father spoke of our boys’ “exceptional manners. [They] went out of their way to play the game in a good spirit and made it an awesome experience for [their] boys.” Our coach and parents were similarly complimented. Really special feedback and a “live” example of the effect of what we encourage our boys to be.
OFF WEEKEND
This post-camp weekend is an off weekend; no sport or any other school activities from lunch time on Friday to Monday morning. Hopefully it will be a good time for boys to catch their breath and for you to have a break from the normal lifting and supporting. Do enjoy.
Kind regards
GREG BROWN
