Shoe Collection

With the festive season on the way, we want to make the Christmas season just as good for the boys and girls at VUSA as it will be for all of us.
That’s why we’re collecting any type of shoes; may that be boots, takkies, casual shoes, running shoes and more; if you can wear it we will take it!
The collection will start on the 22 November and will end of the 29 of November.
We encourage you to bring one or more pairs of shoes to make a big difference.

Please drop them off at the Prep Library.

Extra-Murals 2025

Next week, during House meetings, the House Directors will discuss sport choices for 2025 with the boys. While the sports policy requires boys to participate in at least one summer and one winter team sport, we do encourage our boys to play both team sports offered in summer and winter. This helps us create maximum and competitive teams for matches against neighbouring schools. Please discuss your son's sport choices with him before next Tuesday. Early sport choices are essential for us to determine the number of teams to enter into the leagues.

NEWS
The Grade 7 Public Seaking Competition

On Tuesday, we held the finals of The Grade 7 Public speaking competition.  After presenting their motivational speeches to their teachers in class, 15 boys were selected from across the Grade to present to the judges: Mr Brown, Mrs Dallas and Mrs Schultz-Mofokeng (from the College).  The boys wrote outstanding speeches and spoke with passion, confidence and commitment, and the judges were hugely impressed. Third place was awarded to Shafeeq Brinkhuis, who spoke passionately about what it takes to win at sport; second place to Adam Hendrickse, who challenged us to step up and make South Africa a nation we can be proud of; and our winner was Jack Stansfield, who delivered his speech with a natural flair,  anticipating the changes and opportunities that going to high school might bring. Well done on an impressive and exciting morning and to the whole of Grade 7 for their support of their peers.

Carnival

Last Friday we hosted our Bishops Family Carnival at Rossall. Everyone had loads of fun and whilst throwing pies, eating and playing, we also raised funds for our school and for the various outreach programs that the PA supports.  A big thank you to everyone involved; from parents to teachers, groundsmen, boys, our ADT security staff and all the vendors and suppliers who came together to create such a memorable evening of fun! The PA and Carnival Committee are busy reconciling all the financial elements and will share the outcome with you in due course.

Weekly Winners

The Artists of the Week were chosen from Grade 5.  The following boys did very successful line drawings of Haunted Houses or City skylines by drawing with bleach and a stick.  This task is quite tricky to manage and these boys did a great job of capturing details like windows and doors and some achieved a good balance of dark and light areas. Please click HERE to view all the artwork.
