Dear Parents
The boys have had a busy and exciting sports programme over the last 2 weeks. Here are a few highlights:
Under 13 Squash Tour
Our U13 squash team recently participated in the 4th Annual Graeme College Squash Festival in Makhanda. Over three days, our team competed against schools from the Eastern Cape, Border Districts, and Western Cape. Bishops won five out of six challenging matches. Special mention must be made of Zayd Badroodien, who won all of his matches. The festival provided a fantastic opportunity for our boys to explore new sights, embrace different cultures, and forge new friendships. We are grateful for the warm welcome from Graeme College and look forward to many more successful tours in the future.
Western Province U13 Top Schools Hockey Tournament
Our U13A hockey boys achieved remarkable success, beating defending champions De Hoop in the final on Friday, 6 September. After an unbeaten season, they played outstanding hockey throughout the tournament, scoring 16 goals and conceding none. Congratulations to the team, Mrs Graney, and Mr Ebrahim
175 Pentangular Cross Country
Bishops hosted this event involving SACS, Wynberg, Wetpups, and Rondebosch. Fifty of our boys—the top 10 from each age group U9, U10, U11, U12, and U13 ran. The event was very well organised by Mrs Luzmore, with excellent support from staff and parents. Special mention goes to Charles Traill, who won the U13 section.
Soccer with Vusa
On Saturday, 7 September, we hosted Vusa for a fun morning of soccer. Mixed teams comprising Bishops and Vusa boys enjoyed a wonderful time playing together, strengthening friendships with our friends from Langa.
Fencing
Our U9, U11, and U13 boys participated in the Peninsula Swords Open Championships. The Prep won two of the three events and earned a bronze in the other. Ethan Lee Pan and Minggu Xiao won their respective sections and Ethan received the shield for the "Most Promising Fencer."
Upcoming Events
Bishops 175 Chess Tournament
Tomorrow, we host a chess festival in the Woodlands. SACS, Wynberg Girls, WPPS, Fish Hoek, and Rondebosch have been invited to participate. This promises to be an exciting and competitive event for our chess players, with medals and a trophy on offer.
Thank you for your continuous support. We look forward to seeing you at the upcoming events and celebrating our boys' achievements together.
Kind regards
CHRIS GROOM

Grade 4 - 7 Third Term Academic Progress
This term has been a full and exciting term, and the boys have been working very hard at their academics. There is no Term 3 report. Instead, we have been doing continuous assessments throughout the term in preparation for the Year End Report and you are able to monitor your son’s progress by viewing his marks on his MBL profile. Select the Academic menu in MyBishopsLife and choose Marks from the drop-down provided. On the Marks screen, please click on each listed subject.
Next week, teachers will be holding meetings with some parents whom they will contact directly but if you wish to set up a specific meeting, please contact your son’s form or subject teacher directly via email. |

EPIC Collection
Each year the Bishops College Grade 10’s embark on The Epic. It is a 16 day hike through the Cederberg; with Outreach being a significant component of the journey. The Epic programme supports two local Cederberg schools.
To raise funds for this outreach, the Grade 10’s host a Thrift Sale for Bishops Support Staff. The Thrift Sale is an opportunity for Bishops support staff to find some great deals with all funds raised used for Epic Outreach.
So as Spring-cleaning season hits or during holiday cupboard clean out, please consider donating any pre-loved clothes, toys, sports equipment or even small kitchen appliances. All goods can be popped into the marked basket outside the library. |
