THURSDAY 17 April 2025
Dear Parents

As this newsletter goes out before a long weekend, I am not going to write at any length, but there are a couple of points to be made.

We will go into winter uniform from Monday, 5 May after our week’s break. This means that boys may wear tracksuits with their khakis. They may replace the tracksuit top with the rain jacket.

We are holding the line in the midst of all these short weeks and breaks, so all activities, as well as tests and work, continue as per normal. Again, please do try not to take any extra days off.

I hope you will all enjoy the Easter weekend and safe travels to those going out of Cape Town.

We wish our Jewish families well over these days of Pesach. To our Christian families, may you enjoy a happy and blessed Easter.

Kind regards

GREG BROWN

NEWS
Skeeles 7s Festival
Well done to all our boys who participated in our annual Skeeles 7s Festival last weekend. It was a great success, despite the torrential rain on Saturday, and we would particularly like to thank all those parents who worked tirelessly behind the scenes. It is very much appreciated! Please visit our website photo gallery for more photos.
STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Maths) Assembly

During a “spotlight on STEM” school assembly last Friday, the boys, superbly led by chief engineer Cullin Naylor, presented their websites. Having recently acquired a website tutorial program in STEM, the boys were able to build an entire website from scratch. We used the STEM subject as the content of the website. The folders and files give the site visitors an opportunity to see what each grade is busy with, examples of completed projects and so much more.
Presentation team: Liam Duncan, Cullin Naylor, Adam Farquharson, Cameron Pentz, Zuko Mapukata, Alessio Anderson, Michael McCollum, Adam Turnley-Jones.

VUSA News

Skeeles Rugby Festival
There’s always a special buzz when rugby season kicks off, and this past weekend at Skeeles was no exception. It’s always a privilege for VUSA children to be included on these fields—spaces that inspire them to play with heart and hold themselves with pride.
The energy was high, the games competitive, and the support from the Bishops community was felt throughout. A big thank you to the Bishops Parents’ Association for making our children feel so welcome, and to Spur and Chip 'n Dip for the generous treats that rounded off a memorable day.

Bishops Interact – Fun Frenzy Day
Thanks to an invitation from Bishops Interact, our under 9s—who didn’t have rugby matches this weekend, were treated to a morning of fun and connection at the annual Fun Frenzy event. Hosted by the Claremont Rotary Club and SACS and brought to life by the energy and enthusiasm of the Bishops boys and Rustenburg girls, the day was filled with laughter, games, and new friendships.
We’re so grateful to everyone involved for making sure our youngest learners felt included and celebrated. It was a joyful reminder that even off the field, there’s so much to gain from being part of something bigger.
