WEDNESDAY 25 June 2025

Dear Parents

Today’s newsletter is a short one, providing some key information for the end of this term and the start of next term.

Reports will be released tomorrow and we ask you to discuss the feedback provided in them with your sons.

Mandela Day falls during the holidays this year, so we will observe its call to service on the first Friday of term (25 July) with 67 minutes of service and a special assembly.  Please see the information below as to how it will be acknowledged and implemented. We have a novel and exciting plan and I thank Chloe de la Harpe, our librarian, for this initiative. We will be needing your assistance, so do please have a look.

I want to wish our U13A Rugby boys participating in the Independent Schools Rugby Festival in the first few days of the holiday well and, in addition, those in other sports representing our Province in national tournaments.

Thank you for your support this term, assisting in so many areas of school life, supporting your sons at sports fixtures and concerts, not to mention much lifting to and from different venues.

May this holiday be a happy and rejuvenating time for boys, parents and staff. Safe travels to those travelling.

God Bless

Kind regards

GREG BROWN

Message from Prep Rugby

Thank you to all the parents for their support this past term. We very much appreciate the lifting and sideline support as well as all those that volunteered in the Tuck Shop and Bacon and Egg/Boerie stands. We look forward to seeing you all again next term!
Mandela Day

On Friday 25th July we will be celebrating Mandela Day! The wonderful Ingoma Choir will be visiting us to sing some powerful songs in honour of Madiba. The choir will then join our boys in their classes for 67 minutes of service. Together we will be making Sandwich Packs for the childrens organisations in Hout Bay that Ingoma Choir work with.  More details to follow.
Youth Day

Youth Day is a day of remembrance that came from the events in Sharpeville on 16 June 1976 when over 500 children were killed by the police during a peaceful protest. We honour the memory of these boys and girls and so many like them that stood up, that showed courage and who, in doing so, paid the ultimate sacrifice. But it is also a day for us to celebrate the youth. Please click here and enjoy a message from our boys.

NEWS
Grade 7 KZN Tour
The Grade 7 boys returned on Monday from a very enjoyable education, sport and adventure-based tour of KZN. This annual highlight allowed every boy in the grade the opportunity to go on a tour and showcase their particular skills. They visited Ashton International, Chelsea Prep and Clifton Prep Schools. They held music concerts, played chess as well as a multitude of sports and made friendships while staying over at hosts’ homes. A visit to the uShaka aquarium, the Natal Sharks Board and Phezulu Zulu cultural village ensured that the boys had a good learning opportunity. They also had a great amount lot of fun in the sun at uShaka Wet ’n Wild and the fabulous Sugar Bay Adventure Camp. Please visit our Instagram page for many more photos.
