Dear Parents
Welcome back to the fourth term. It is wonderful to see the boys return refreshed and excited to learn and to be with their friends again.
During the holidays, our U13A cricket team travelled to the Eastern Cape to participate in the Dale Junior Cricket Festival. The boys and staff were hosted superbly by the Dale community in King William’s Town. Our boys played excellent cricket and were outstanding ambassadors for Bishops.
A number of families, together with staff, also enjoyed a memorable trip down the Orange River during the holidays. At present, our U13A water polo team is participating in the SACS Junior Water Polo Tournament. They have an exciting four days of competitive matches against teams from across South Africa. Our U13A tennis team travels to Sun City today to take part in a tennis festival. This is the first time Bishops has participated in this event, and they will compete against other independent schools from around the country. The cast of Bugsy Malone is also in the final stages of preparation for their production in Week 3 of this term. We look forward to seeing the creativity and talent that our boys bring to the stage.
It has been a very busy start to the term and we are proud of how well the boys manage their various commitments. There have been many adjustments to schedules to ensure that boys involved in multiple activities can continue to participate fully. This balance of academics, sport, and culture is at the heart of what makes Bishops unique.
Please note that we have moved over to summer uniform. While some mornings may still be cool, boys may wear their jerseys and blazers with their khakis when necessary. Please remember that rain jackets and scarves are not part of the summer uniform. Boys who come to school in sports kit may wear their tracksuit. A jersey may only be worn with khakis and not with sports kit.
We wish our Hindu families a prosperous and happy Diwali.
Looking forward to a very busy and exciting Term 4.
Kind regards
CHRIS GROOM
