Dear Parents

PA COMMITTEE AGM

At the Parents’ Association Committee AGM on Tuesday evening, the following six parents were elected to the Committee: Candice Basson, Sally Duncan, Claire Edwards, Matt Goodall, Deveshni Reddy, Zaba Tashe.

We will meet shortly for the Committee to elect office bearers and finalise portfolios. The Committee is also able, in terms of the PA Constitution, to co-opt a further two members.

I want to thank those stepping down - Shirley Emms, Bruce Darné, Tracy Surkont and Steph du Plooy – for their input and work. It is sometimes a seemingly thankless task, but there is so much behind the scenes work in order to sustain the PA’s outreach projects, organise community events, fundraise and general support for the school. They also often assist parents with issues and provide a useful forum for us to get feedback on ideas and processes. The school is deeply appreciative of the support they provide, as well as their role with the class reps.

BUSY AND BUGSY
These first three weeks of term are extremely busy starting last week with a Tennis Tour and the SACS Water Polo Festival. Both teams represented Bishops well, our U13A water polo team placing eighth out of thirty-two teams from around the country and our tennis team winning the Sun City Tournament.

This week is the final run up to next week’s performance of Bugsy Malone, so the boys involved are extremely busy, as are all our staff. We will speak to the boys attending about dress and other expectations.

There was a very speedy take up of tickets, so a further fifth performance has had to be added on Sunday, 2 November. Tickets are still available. The show opens next Wednesday evening and we wish all involved the very best or, as they say in drama circles, “break a leg”.

Kind regards

GREG BROWN

Thank you from the PA

The PA would like to extend a massive thank you to everyone who so generously donated to the raffle and to the purchase of ticket. The initiative created so much excitement’s and enthusiasm. We ride almost R 70 000 rand - money which will go towards the feeding schemes we support and providing stationery to St Pauls, Atwood and Vusa learners. It will also assist with all PA projects at the school, not least of all the much anticipated Carnival, in the last week of the first term next year
