Dear Parents
Last week I spoke to the boys about “running your own race.” We explored the story of a boy who became jealous when a faster runner arrived, until his grandfather reminded him that God gives each child different gifts and that “comparison steals your joy, but gratitude gives it back.” As we begin the winter sports programme and teams are selected, we are encouraging the boys to avoid unkind comments, support those who are chosen ahead of them, and focus on what they can control – their attitude, effort, behaviour and enjoyment. Our message remains simple: don’t let comparison steal your joy.
In assembly tomorrow, Mr Dudley, a member of our DEB committee, will speak about Human Rights Day on 21 March. This day reminds us of the sacrifices made so that all people in South Africa can have equal rights and dignity. The boys will be encouraged to treat others with respect, to stand up kindly against bullying and injustice, and to ensure their words and actions protect, rather than harm, the rights of others.
Thank you to all parents who met with teachers this week to discuss Industry reports and academic progress. These conversations help us share concerns, celebrate growth and guide the boys as they continue to “run their own race” in the terms ahead.
This has been a long and busy term, and I am sure boys, staff and parents are ready for a well-earned break. Thank you once again for your ongoing support.
As the holy month of Ramadaan comes to an end, we extend our heartfelt wishes to all observing, a blessed and peaceful Eid al Fitr. EID MUBARAK.
This is the last newsletter of the term; on Wednesday next week we will send out a short letter which will include arrangements for the first week of the second term.
Kind regards
CHRIS GROOM

| RUGBY SEASON TUCK SHOP VOLUNTEERS |
 |
The PA is launching a fun incentive to get parents more involved in our community - starting with the Tuck Shop!
- Each rugby home game will have two Grades allocated to volunteering in the Tuck Shop (see above table).
- The Tuck Shop will be managed, run and set up by the PA, all we need is parents to sign up for 30 min shifts to help serve customers on each day.
- The Grade with the most volunteers will “win” a civvies day at the end of Term 2!
Grade 4 and Grade 7 parents, look out for the tuck shop volunteer sign up link in the first weekly update of next term! |

Owen Fitzgerald was awarded Tennis Player of the Week last week. He came to every practice and every match with a positive attitude and determination. His skill level has increased and the improvement he has made is exceptional. In his matches, he played super forehand and backhand shots and fought hard for every point. Well done! |
