Dear Parents
The past week has been exacting and enjoyable. Boys and staff showing up with pride and anticipation as we travelled to Durbanville for the annual winter exchange. While the competition was hard, the sense of community was easy. The boys cheered loudly for one another, played for the badge, and returned home with fond memories. These moments give true expression to Togetherness – a value we espouse.
On Monday, 25 May, along with fellow African citizens, we celebrated Africa Day. Trivia set the tone for a message that highlighted both our diversity and shared identity. With all its complexity and potential, this youthful continent is our home, and we are a part of its story.
We have observed a pleasing improvement in boys arriving in the correct uniform. Thank you for your support. These daily expectations, including greeting, arriving on time, attending rehearsals, practices and performances, picking up litter, taking care of classrooms and bathrooms, singing together, applauding one another – lie at the heart of community, excellence and pride.
As we conclude the month of May, may this the prayer by the beloved Fr Trevor Huddleston find room in our hearts.
God bless Africa,
Guard her people,
Guide her leaders,
And give her peace,
For Jesus Christ's sake. Amen.
Kind regards
LESTER LALLA

As the mornings become darker, the safety of our boys arriving at school, either being dropped off or cycling, becomes increasingly important. We ask all parents to remain mindful during drop-off times.
Please be reminded that the “Drop and Go” zones are intended only for the brief time required for your son to safely disembark. Stopping for longer than necessary causes congestion and limits access to spaces needed for the safe drop-off of boys close to the school gates.
If you need to leave your vehicle or remain parked for any period of time, please use one of the designated parking areas at the top or bottom of Duke Road .
For boys cycling to school, the school strongly encourages all cyclists to wear high-visibility vests.
These are available from most hardware stores.
The PA has placed a number of vests at the Prep Bike Shed. Boys are welcome to use these when cycling to and from school, and we ask that they are returned to the Bike Shed after use so they may be shared by all.
Lastly, while the roads around the Prep are not officially one ways, the adherence to this concept goes such a long way towards ensuring an organised and safe drop off and pick up zone. Please follow these guidelines, its in the interest of all our boys.
Thank you for your cooperation and support in helping keep our boys safe. |

| Durbanville Exchange |
 |
On a cold and rainy morning last Friday, several Prep music boys performed at the church service to kick off the Durbanville Exchange weekend. The Grade 7 vocal ensemble, accompanied by Ms Clapperton, along with soloists Minggu Xiao (violin), Brodie Bassett (voice), and Adam Shaik (saxophone), delivered outstanding performances to a very appreciative congregation.
The day continued with sport, games, and plenty of fun interaction with learners from Durbanville Primary. We extend our sincere thanks to Durbanville for their warm hospitality, and to the organisers—especially Ms Southgate—for making this such a successful and enjoyable event. |

VUSA News
On Thursday evening, VUSA hosted its Gala Dinner, More Than a Game, at MOYO Kirstenbosch, raising an incredible R370,000 in support of our Early Childhood Development programmes.
At the heart of the evening was a powerful fireside conversation hosted by Tank Lanning, which challenged guests to think more deeply about access, opportunity, and the sacrifices many young people and families make simply to access quality education and opportunity in South Africa. It was an honest and moving conversation that left a lasting impression on many in the room.
A sincere thank you to our title sponsor, Anchor Capital, to all the generous donors of auction and raffle prizes, and to every guest who attended and supported the evening. Thank you to the incredible Bishops Prep Marimba Band for welcoming guests so beautifully, to Roger Eskinazi for his wonderful performance, and to DJ extraordinaire Luke Jacobs, auctioneer Stef Olivier, and our MC Wandile Nzuza for helping create such a memorable atmosphere.
Finally, thank you to Deidre Weich, Kim Steven, Daniela Wakeford and Tarah Snyders for creating such a warm and beautiful event at MOYO.
