Earlier this term, thanks to the youthful enthusiasm of Miss D, we joined a trend popularised on social media, where people dress up as an idiom. The boys and staff showcased their creativity and flair, keeping us guessing for much of the day. It was great fun.

Sweating the Small Stuff

Our work with boys between the ages of 8 and 14 requires routine, predictability, high expectations, and an intentional focus on the little things.
I have challenged the boys to take pride in their uniform, greetings, manners, and behaviour, and it has been pleasing to observe how many have stepped up to the task.
To some, these may seem old-fashioned values, but to us, they remain of the utmost importance.

Heritage Day

On Monday, 21 September 2026, we will celebrate Heritage Day. Boys are encouraged to wear clothing that reflects their own heritage or that of a South African cultural group. While we understand the appeal of supporter jerseys for many of our boys, this is not the purpose of the day.

There is one standard ticket for all attendees, with free entry for children under the age of three.
Please note that tickets are limited. Sales will close on Thursday, 17 September, or earlier if tickets sell out.

Carnival Tokens

Tokens for the Carnival games and stalls are available to purchase over and above the entrance ticket.
Food and drinks can be purchased directly from vendors using SnapScan or credit card.  This is a cashless event.
The PA will also sell tokens at the Carnival, so there is no need to worry if you haven’t purchased enough tokens in advance — or if you need a few more on the day!

Your Carnival Ticket

Your ticket will be issued digitally and stored in your Webtickets account. On arrival at the Carnival on Saturday, 10 October, you can either:

• show your digital ticket on your phone, or
• bring a printed copy of your ticket.

Webtickets staff will scan your ticket at the entrance and admit you to the Carnival. If you have pre-purchased tokens, these will also be issued to you when you enter.
All proceeds raised through the Carnival will be reinvested into our school community, helping to support improvements and upgrades at Bishops, as well as the various outreach programmes supported by the PA.

Grade 4 - 7 Third Term Academic Progress

This term has been a full and exciting term, and the boys have been working very hard at their academics. There is no Term 3 report. Instead, we have been doing continuous assessments throughout the term in preparation for the Year End Report and you are able to monitor your son’s progress by viewing his marks on his MBL profile.
On Monday 21st and Tuesday 22nd September teachers will be holding meetings with some parents whom they will contact directly but if you wish to set up a specific meeting, please contact your son’s form or subject teacher directly via email.

Experience Bishops Open Day 2027

You may have seen the College Experience Bishops Open Day 2027 for Grade 8 2028 advertised on Social Media. Prep parents do not need to register via the link that has been shared. The College Admissions Office will communicate directly with the Prep Grade 6 families regarding the appropriate registration process and next steps.

If you would like to diarise in the meanwhile, the Experience Bishops Open Day takes place on 29 January 2027. It is compulsory for all Prep Grade 7 2027 boys to attend and voluntary for parents.
