Dear Parents
We have had one positive case of Covid at the Prep this week.
As you have probably heard, the Department of Basic Education has published the regulations under which spectators may attend school matches and events such as concerts. They were more rigorous than expected so we have delayed the implementation to allow for consideration. Our brother and sister schools have all adopted their own approach to this. In essence, all parents entering the facility have to be screened, sanitise their hands and fill in a register.
So we will start this today with water polo. Parents of U12s and U13s playing at College will be screened at the gate to each pool and complete a register. We ask for your patience and understanding – it is going to make entry slower than normal. Please do not attend if you are sick or display any Covid-like symptoms.
The good news is that you can watch and attend events again. We look forward to seeing you after what has been a very unusual experience with no spectators at sports fixtures.
GRADE 7 ISIXHOSA FAL 2022
Thank you to the Grade 6 parents who attended the isiXhosa meeting last week Wednesday. It was good to see so many parents there to show their interest. It is possible that parents still have questions so please don't hesitate to contact either Karen Dallas or Brendan Fogarty.
Grade 6 parents whose sons will do isiXhosa next year as a First Additional Language are asked to please confirm via email to Karen Dallas by Wednesday 3 November. This is an exciting new development in our curriculum offering and we hope to see a good uptake.
COLLEGE PUPIL LEADERSHIP
As with the Prep, College is based on a very strong and meaningful House system and boys are appointed as Heads and Deputy Heads of Houses. At the Matric Prizegiving last week the overall leadership of the pupil body was announced. We were very proud as the three boys had all been at the Prep:
Suhail Khalfey – Head of School
Robert Dicey – Deputy Head (Boarders)
Daniel Neuhoff – Deputy Head (Day Boys)
Suhail came to the Prep in Grade 4, Robert in Grade 7 and Daniel from the Pre-Prep. Click HERE to enjoy a video the boys made about themselves, and what their objectives are for 2022.
BISHOPS SPORTS PERFORMANCE AND WELLNESS PROGRAMME (SPW)
The Bishops Sports Performance and Wellness programme aims to address conditioning, performance, wellness, rehab, and injury management, as well as implementing an efficient communication channel between heads of sports, coaches, medical personnel, forming a link between the Pre-Prep, Prep, and College.
An overall holistic and structured programme is required to address the wide variety of sports that Bishops offers to achieve this goal. The programme focuses on the overall development of gross motor skills and hand-eye coordination at the Pre-Prep, which progresses to more specialised conditioning programmes that target high-performance sports development and promote general wellness at the College.

We wish all our Hindu families a very happy Diwali this week.
Kind regards
GREG BROWN
