Dear Parents
As we continue our journey through the values that shape our boys into kind, thoughtful, and grounded young people, our focus this week is on humility. This important value was explored through our assembly discussions and story-sharing designed to help the boys understand what it truly means to be humble in their everyday interactions. I was so impressed with our boys that they could share in these discussions and explain what humility means to them and how they can show humility in their daily lives. We unpacked humility a little more practically too.
- H is for helping others without the need for praise or thanks.
- U is for using your talents and for being the best you can be without being boastful.
- M is for making mistakes and learning from them.
- I is for the importance of working together.
- L is for listening to advice as you don’t know everything!
- I is for showing an interest in your friends by giving them praise and encouraging them.
- T is for taking help when it’s offered. Don’t be too proud to ask for help.
- Y is for you first, me last.
I have introduced humility as “not thinking less of yourself, but thinking of yourself less.” We’re encouraging the boys to celebrate their strengths and successes while staying grounded, acknowledging the contributions of others, and showing appreciation without seeking praise. Through stories like The Lion and the Mouse, and real-life examples of sportsmanship and quiet acts of kindness, we are showing the boys that humility is about inner strength, respect, and generosity of spirit.
Here are some ways you can support and continue this learning at home:
- Model humility in your own actions – let your child see you admitting to your own mistakes, sharing credit, and treating everyone with equal respect.
- Celebrate effort over outcome – praise your son not just for what he achieves, but how he behaves and treats others in the process.
- Talk about team spirit – discuss the importance of playing fair, encouraging others, and being a gracious winner (or loser).
- Read together – books that feature humble characters or unexpected heroes are a great way to spark conversation.
- Encourage reflection – ask questions like: “Who helped you today?” or “What’s one kind thing you did for someone else this week?”
In a world that often celebrates loud success, we believe that teaching humility equips our boys with the strength to lead with empathy and kindness. Thank you for supporting us as we guide our boys to become confident yet considerate young men.
Happy birthday to Ms Gammie for 1 April, Ms Baninzi for 2 April and Mr Anthony for 13 April.
As we celebrate the joy and hope of Easter, may this sacred season bring peace to your hearts and renewal to your spirits.
Wishing our Christian families a blessed and joyful Easter, filled with love, reflection, and togetherness and, we also wish our Jewish families a happy Passover for 12 April.
Kind Regards

Message from Rev. Khwezi Bengani
Bishop's Pre-Prep Pastoral Newsletter Holy Week 2025
"Walking Together Through the Heart of Our Story"
Dear Bishop’s Pre-Prep Families,
As Holy Week unfolds around us, I find myself reflecting on the beauty of this time — not only in the story we remember as Christians, but also in the world around us here in Cape Town.
There is something about this season — the changing light in the mornings, the crispness beginning to touch the air, and the gentle reminder that we are moving from summer into autumn. Nature itself seems to echo the pattern of Holy Week — a journey from life and energy, through stillness and waiting, into a season of quiet hope and renewal.
Here at Bishop’s Pre-Prep, this past term has been full of growth, curiosity, joy, and friendship. The children have been exploring the Easter story in their own beautiful and age-appropriate ways — waving palm branches with delight, washing each other’s hands in acts of kindness, sitting in moments of quiet to hear about Jesus’ love, and looking forward with joy to the hope of Easter morning.
In many ways, Holy Week meets us exactly where we are. For some, life feels like Palm Sunday — full of celebration and happiness. For others, it may feel more like Good Friday — marked by sadness, challenge, or uncertainty. And then, for many of us, Holy Saturday holds its own lesson: the importance of waiting, resting, and trusting that new life is coming — even if we cannot yet see it.
Perhaps living in Cape Town offers us a particular lens through which to see Holy Week — a city known both for its breathtaking beauty and for its complicated story of healing and hope. We are a people shaped by mountain and ocean, by sunrise and sunset, by stories of struggle, resilience, and renewal.
This Holy Week, may we all be encouraged to slow down — even just for a moment — to notice signs of hope in our own lives and in the world around us. It might be in the laughter of your child after a long day, the kindness of a friend, the beauty of an autumn sunset over Table Mountain, or the small daily miracles of ordinary life.
As Easter approaches, we are reminded again that the heart of our story is this: love always has the final word. Hope is never lost. Light will always find its way, even though the darkest moments.
One of my favourite verses that captures this hope comes from the prophet Isaiah:
“See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the wilderness and streams in the wasteland.” Isaiah 43:19
May this promise give us courage as we move through the end of this term, as we navigate the ups and downs of family life, and as we look ahead to Easter morning with renewed hearts.
Thank you for the privilege of sharing this journey with your children. It is a joy to watch them wonder, question, and discover the love of
God in the small moments of school life.
Wishing you and your family a Holy Week filled with peace, reflection, and above all — hope.
May the joy of Easter morning fill your hearts and homes with love.
With every blessing,
Revd. Khwezi Bengani |

HIGHLIGHTS |
Grade N |
 |
Last term in Grade N the boys had the opportunity to engage in a wonderful Inquiry Based Learning lesson pertaining to Easter. We asked some fun questions and wrote down the answers. This was an important lesson as we encourage our young learners to think about topics in different ways and use their creativity. Some of the questions were: “where does the easter bunny come from?”, “does he celebrate Easter too? “and “I wonder what the Easter bunny does all day?”. The boys came up with some super answers. We are very excited to explore our new playground and soon we will be able to run, jump, climb and slide on all the new equipment. Our boys are happy to be back at school and everyone has settled back in with ease and confidence. Have a lovely Easter weekend spending quality family time with your loved ones. Grade N Teachers. |
Grade R |

As we kick off Term 2, there's a noticeable change in the air — crisp, cool mornings and occasional rain have signalled the arrival of autumn. But despite the shift in weather, the boys have jumped straight back into school life with excitement and energy!
One of the biggest highlights has been our brand-new jungle gym. The monkey bars have been a particular favourite, offering plenty of opportunities for climbing, swinging, and adventurous play. It has been wonderful to see the boys exploring and enjoying this new space during their outdoor time.
In the classroom, we have embraced the season with our autumn theme. The boys are learning all about the changes in weather, the falling leaves, and the colours of the season. It is a great way to connect what they see outdoors with their learning indoors.
We are looking forward to another term filled with curiosity, discovery, and lots of fun. Here’s to a happy and enriching Term 2! |
Grade 1 |
 |
The Grade 1 boys returned with boundless excitement for Term 2, eager to share their holiday adventures. We dove straight into the whimsical world of Sam-I-Am and his curious green eggs and ham. Some boys were thrilled to try the green eggs, while others were a bit hesitant. Would you try green eggs and ham? Could you try green eggs and ham? The real question is, should you try green eggs and ham? Their reading skills have sharpened, and they are thoroughly enjoying the thrilling new adventures of Biff, Chip, and Kipper. This term promises even more exciting discoveries, starting next week with our Birds theme. |
Grade 2 |
 |
At the end of last term, our Grade 2 students wrapped up their exciting insect theme with an inquiry based learning project! Each group was assigned a different insect to research. After gathering all their fascinating facts, they created detailed posters and presented their findings to the class. The students did a fantastic job, showcasing their creativity and knowledge about these tiny creatures that play such an important role in nature.
This week, the Grade 2 boys dove into learning about the a magic 'e' sound. To make the lesson more interactive and enjoyable, the students designed their very own Snakes and Ladders games, incorporating words with the a magic 'e' sound. The boys had a blast playing their games with friends, reinforcing their new skills in a fun, hands-on way. It's been a great week of learning and teamwork!
