Welcome to Term 4!
Dear Parents
I hope our families are well-rested and recharged after the two-week holiday, our staff certainly are. The excitement about the holidays and the boys seeing their friends again was so special. The tooth fairy/mouse was particularly busy these holidays! As we head into Term 4, we are gearing up for a busy but exciting time at the Pre-Prep!
Firstly, I would like to extend a heartfelt thank you for the wonderful appreciation shown to our teachers on Teachers' Day. Your kind gestures truly made the day special.
Looking ahead, I am excited to see some of our families at our Fun Sports Day with VUSA on Friday, 18 October. This promises to be a fun-filled morning of activity and connection as we come together to support our boys and enjoy the spirit of the morning. All our boys will be participating, along with a Grade N and a Grade R class from VUSA.
Next week is especially exciting as we start to meet our new Grade Ns and Rs who will be joining us next year. It’s always a joy to welcome the new boys and their families into the Bishops community.
We now move over to summer uniform. Some days might still be cold, but on those occasions boys can wear jerseys with their khakis, and our Grade N and R boys may wear their fleece or school jersey. To clarify, a tracksuit top alone won't suffice as a jersey; it should be worn with the pants. Please note that rain jackets are not part of the summer uniform.
Happy birthday to Ms Manyela for Monday 14 October and Ms Catherine Reeder, who celebrates her 50th on 16 October, wishing them a blessed year ahead.
Kind regards
TARYN BAIN

TAKE NOTE |
Pizza Fridays
Pizza Friday is a special treat for the Grade R- Grade 2 boys where the emphasis is placed on teaching the boys patience, manners and to stand in a queue. Hazel Joubert has done a fantastic job overseeing this for the past 3 years but has now stepped down from this position as her son starts Grade 3 next year.
Lisa Dallas has taken over this role and will be arranging pizza's for the boys from the 4th Term going forward.
You will be receiving a notification shortly via your class reps where you can volunteer to assist for the fourth term on a Friday morning to hand pizza slices to the boys. Only two parents are required each Friday for this event. This always proves to be a fun filled 30 minutes where the boys get to receive a pizza slice from their special person. |
Extra-mural Timetable Term 4
Please click here for the Term 4 timetable. Take careful note of pick up times. The enrolment rosters from Term 1 will be used. If your son is new to the Grade please inform his class teacher, which sports he will be doing.
Morning running requires no enrolment. The Grade 2 boys must come to school in their whites on Wednesday and bring their khaki unifrom to change back into, if they choose to join in on the day. Please ensure your son has the correct kit for his all his activities and email the teacher in charge if your son is absent. Thank you so much. |

PRE-PREP PRAYER GROUP |
Message from Mr Tsotso
The Lord be with you
As we begin this new term, I would like to extend a heartfelt welcome back to everyone. I hope the holiday provided you with time to rest, enjoy moments with your loved ones, and take a much needed breath. Whether spent on adventure, relaxation, or reflection, these breaks give us the chance to refill our cups so that we can return ready for the term ahead.
In the Gospel of Mark 10:13-16, Jesus says, "Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these."
We are reminded of Jesus’ deep love and care for each of us, particularly children. Just as He welcomed them with open arms, He welcomes us daily into His grace and protection. As we go through this term, let us hold onto this powerful truth, that in all our learning, playing, and growing, God embraces us fully. He sees each of us as a part of His Kingdom, shaping us day by day into who He has called us to be.
This term, may it be one filled with discovery, adventure, and moments of self-reflection, where each new day draws us closer to our purpose. Let’s embrace the opportunities to explore our talents, form deeper connections, and grow in the fullness of our God-given calling. Let us take on each challenge and day knowing that we are held in the love of God.
Let us pray
Loving God, we give You thanks for the time spent over the holiday with family and friends. Thank You for moments of rest, joy, and renewal. As we enter this new term, we ask for Your guidance and strength in everything we do. Be with us in our work, our play, and our relationships. May this be a term where we learn more about ourselves and the world around us, and may it draw us closer to You. Bless our community—students, staff, and parents—and help us to walk in Your light every day.
Amen.

HIGHLIGHTS |
Grade N |
|
It’s been such a joy welcoming the boys back after the holidays and hearing all about their adventures. This week, our creative activities took flight with our Transport theme. The boys loved making buses, boats, airplanes, and fire engines—so much imagination and excitement in the air!
The real highlight of the week, however, was the visit from Jurassic Adventures. The boys were thrilled to meet Ruby and Toasty, our special dinosaur guests, right on the school field! In addition to the dino fun, we engaged in fossil-making activities and even went on a fossil dig, using magnifying glasses and brushes to search for ancient treasures. The excitement in their voices was priceless, with exclamations like “A foot!” and “A triceratops horn!” filling the air.
We also explored the difference between trace fossils and body fossils, sparking amazing conversations and curiosity.
We hope your boys have told you all about their dinosaur adventures! |
Grade R |
|
The Grade R boys returned well rested from a happy break. They have grown up so much in these two weeks and lots of conversations around holidays and missed catch up ensued! We are very excited about our upcoming Nativity Play and our rehearsals are well under way, so expect lots of cheerful and melodic singing around the house. Happy boys, happy term 4! |
Grade 1 |
|
The year has flown by, and the Grade 1 students have returned with energy and enthusiasm to tackle their final term. We began by continuing our exploration of money, learning about its history, different currencies, and how interest is earned. Some boys were even eager to invest their pocket money! The students are busily preparing for their upcoming trading day by working with money. They also explored digital time and had fun playing time games with clocks. Additionally, we enjoyed enhancing our phonics skills with more end blends. This term is a web of busyness, and we are ready to embrace it. |
Grade 2 |
|
The first week back at school has been full of excitement and energy as the boys eagerly shared their holiday news during Show and Tell. We’ve eased into the term without extra-murals, giving the boys time to settle into the new routines. They were particularly excited to start swimming again, with the pool at the perfect temperature for some refreshing fun! The warmer days also made break times enjoyable, with the boys making the most of the sandpit, exploring the playground, and playing football together.
Our theme for the term, natural disasters, has sparked a lot of interest, with the theme board already capturing their attention and curiosity. This theme will help build their knowledge of the world around them, encouraging critical thinking and creativity. We're off to a great start, and it's clear that this term is going to be both educational and enjoyable for the boys! |
