Dear Parents
On Sunday, 16 June, South Africa commemorates Youth Day — a significant occasion that honours the courageous students who stood up for their right to quality education in 1976. This day serves as a powerful reminder of the role young people have played in shaping our country's journey toward equality, justice, and freedom. At Bishops Pre-Prep, we acknowledge this important part of our history and use it as an opportunity to spark age-appropriate conversations with our boys about fairness, kindness, and using one’s voice for good. Even our youngest boys are capable of showing empathy, asking thoughtful questions, and understanding that their actions matter. Our boys know that even small acts of fairness and friendship can contribute to a better world. Youth Day is not only a time to look back, but also a moment to look forward — and we are proud to walk alongside our Pre-Prep boys as we guide them to grow into thoughtful, compassionate young South Africans.
Happy birthday to Mrs Daames and Mr Julius for the 14 June, Mrs Gedu for the 15 June, Mrs Band for 16 June and Ms Tabata for 18 June.
Enjoy the long weekend.
Kind regards

TARYN BAIN

Message from Revd. Khwezi Bengani
Pentecost: The Power in the Waiting
This past Sunday, the Church celebrated Pentecost—the day the Holy Spirit came upon the disciples in wind and flame, filling them with courage, joy, and the power to share God’s love with the world. It marks the birthday of the Church, and it’s an amazing story of what happens when we wait with hope.
Before Pentecost, the disciples had been told by Jesus to wait in Jerusalem. Wait? That’s not always easy—especially when you’re excited, scared, unsure, or just ready for things to change. But they listened. They waited. And in that waiting, something powerful happened.
In the Pre-Prep, our boys are often full of energy and enthusiasm (and sometimes impatience!). Waiting is hard when you’re little—but it's also where growth happens. In a world that moves fast, Pentecost reminds us that some of the most important things take time:
· Learning to be a kind friend
· Growing in confidence and courage
· Trusting that things will get better when we feel unsure
To our boys – know that waiting doesn’t mean nothing is happening. Sometimes God is preparing your heart for something wonderful.
To our parents – thank you for the patience and love you show every day. Your quiet encouragement, especially in the messy, uncertain moments is what builds strength in your children.
To our staff – in the busyness of school life, your faithful presence and gentle guidance are like the flame that lit up the disciples: quiet but powerful, bringing light to those you teach.
Let’s take this Pentecost season as a chance to breathe deeply, to trust the waiting, and to believe that God's Spirit is working in and through us even when we can't see it yet.
May we all be filled with peace, courage, and joy as we go forward together.
Come, Holy Spirit, fill our hearts with your love.
Warm blessings, |

HIGHLIGHTS |
Grade N |
 |
We've loved learning about Farming and Fruits and Vegetables over the past two weeks! The boys have been fascinated with what farmers do and what machines they use in their everyday lives. With the cold weather, boys have been extra creative playing inside and building marble runs, towers, lego and even playing shop-shop. When the rain has stayed away we've been outside building forts, playing in our tunnel and even squeezing Orbies! Wishing all our Dad's and father figures a very special Father's Day this weekend. We hope you enjoy what your boys have made for you. |

Minibeast Week at Grade R Buzzes with Excitement!
Minibeast Week has been full of excitement, creepy-crawly tales, and fascinating discoveries of tiny creatures hiding in our playground! The boys have been hard at work collecting natural materials to create their very own bug hotel—but every great building needs a blueprint first! Our Busy Bee Boys got straight to work, sketching out designs for a cozy, bug-sized retreat. Their creativity truly took flight as they shared ideas and brought their vision to life. Great job, boys! |
Grade 1 |
 |
The boys explored the three R's- Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle, inspired by Michael Recycle- the garbage superhero. They impressed us with their super sentences about Trash Trucks and created colourful litterbug masterpieces to consolidate the facts of eight. Maths took on a competitive edge when the boys experienced counting groups with Numicon plates, enjoying the speed of the game! Breaktime became a construction site of creativity, with teams of budding architects building three-dimensional shapes. Back in the classroom, the boys continue to shine in Afrikaans and isiXhosa, learning through songs, games, and the occasional giggle. A busy and joyful week of learning! |
Grade 2 |
 |
It’s hard to believe another term is almost over. How very quickly time flies when you’re having fun! The Grade 2 boys are becoming independent, creative beings whether at work or play. Maths lessons are filled with measurement activities, data handling and practical lessons about money.
In Literacy, we have continued to learn all the different ways we can make the long vowel “a” sound and that some words sound the same but are spelt differently and have different meanings.
The creativity continues in art as the boys have used different mediums to create picture of the beautiful wildlife that roams our landscapes and that our country is blessed to have.
Our sandpit architects have spent their break time constructing the Taj Mahal while the other boys enjoy soccer and cricket games; some returning to class cleaner than others. Enjoy a well-deserved break this long weekend when you get to it, and we wish all our Dads a very special Father’s Day on Sunday. |
