Dear Parents
Welcome back to the 4th Term. It's lovely to be back and to hear the boys cheerful voices back in our classrooms, corridors and playgrounds.
Teacher Appreciation Day fell in the holidays on Sunday 5 October. At the Pre-Prep, we are truly blessed with a team of teachers and teacher assistants who go above and beyond the call of duty every single day.
What stands out most for me about our Pre-Prep staff is their remarkable ability to care for and connect with each and every boy. They take the time to know our boys deeply — their strengths, challenges, and unique personalities — and in doing so, they create an environment where each child feels seen, valued, and understood.
Our teachers not only provide a strong academic and sporting education but also place great emphasis on the emotional well-being of our boys. Through their daily interactions, they model and instil the values that lie at the heart of Bishops — manners, integrity, togetherness, respect, and empathy.
Teacher Appreciation Day reminds us how important it is to pause and acknowledge the incredible role teachers play in shaping young lives. They don’t just teach lessons — they build confidence, spark curiosity, nurture kindness, and help our boys grow into thoughtful, capable, and caring young men. Their influence reaches far beyond the classroom, leaving an imprint that lasts a lifetime. I am grateful for our Pre-Prep teachers — for their dedication, compassion, and unwavering commitment to growing good men.
Most boys have come back to school looking super smart, ready for term 4. Thank you to all those who have ensured that the boys have nice neat, short haircuts. We are a school that wears a uniform. It gives our boys a sense of belonging and togetherness. With that uniform comes certain expectations regarding appearance. All hair types and styles must be kept above the eyebrows, ears and collars so that it is always neat and tidy. Hair should be tapered so that the difference between the length of the top and sides is not excessive. Short dreads and short afros are allowed. Please cut your boys hair by Monday if it is not in line with our expectations. We will officially change over to full summer uniform from Monday 27 October. On chilly mornings the boys may wear jerseys over their khakis.
Kindly note that the School Magazine has been uploaded to our website. Please click HERE.
We wish all of our Hindu families a very happy Diwali for Monday 20 October.
Kind regards

Giving Our Best Shot – Term 4
Welcome back to Term 4! The holidays have come and gone, and our boys have returned with renewed energy, bright smiles, and plenty of stories to share. There’s a wonderful buzz around the Pre-Prep as we begin this final stretch of the year, a time to finish strong, to grow in character, and to celebrate how far each boy has come.
As we look ahead to the weeks before us, we are reminded that this final term is not just about completing the year, but about finishing well with joy, perseverance, and heart. It’s about giving our best shot in everything we do, whether in the classroom, on the sports field, or in the playground.
Giving our best doesn’t mean being perfect; it means showing up each day with effort, courage, and kindness. It means trying again after making a mistake, including others in play, and treating each person with respect and care. These simple acts, repeated daily, shape our boys into thoughtful, resilient young men.
Our guiding verse for this term comes from Colossians 3:23: “Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord.”
This verse reminds us that every action no matter how small an offering of love and gratitude can be when done with our whole heart. It encourages us all, staff, parents, and boys alike, to bring enthusiasm and purpose into our learning, our work, and our relationships.
As a community, let us walk together through this final term with a spirit of thankfulness. Let us celebrate progress over perfection, kindness over competition, and effort over ease. May we encourage our boys to finish strong, to keep trying, and to find joy in giving their very best. |

HIGHLIGHTS |
Grade N |
 |
The Grade N teachers loved welcoming back our boys on Monday and hearing all their holiday stories. It was amazing to see how much they’ve grown over the past two weeks! The highlight of our first week back was definitely the visit from Jurassic Adventures. We hope your boys have told you all about it.
We sang songs, used magnifying glasses and brushes as we pretended to be palaeontologists, and even met two (almost) life-sized dinosaurs on the field. The boys also made their own fossils — an awesome adventure to kick off our two-week Dinosaur Theme. We look forward to our last term together in Grade N with many events taking place as we wind down the year. |

The boys have settled seamlessly into the new term, returning refreshed and ready to learn after what seems to have been a wonderful break. This week, our theme has been opposites, and the boys have enjoyed exploring the concept through a range of creative and colourful art activities. We continue with our Muscle Mania lessons, focusing on strengthening fine motor skills through fun and engaging exercises. It’s been lovely to see the boys reconnect with their friends, making the most of the garden and play area each day. Our much-loved Father and Son Wednesday morning soccer sessions are also back in full swing and continue to be a highlight of the week.
A warm welcome to the Gohl family, we are delighted to have Harry Gohl join us this term!
We look forward to an exciting, fun-filled, and busy Term 4 together.

Welcome to Term 4 – Our Final Chapter in Grade 1!
It’s hard to believe we’ve reached our final term of Grade 1! As we begin this special time of the year, we’ve started talking about change and the many emotions it can bring. The boys have shared their thoughts and feelings about moving on to Grade 2, and we’ve been reminding them how much they’ve grown, learned, and achieved this year.
It was lovely to start swimming again this week! The boys were so excited to get back into the pool, and it’s been wonderful to see how much progress they’ve maintained — and in many cases, improved upon. Their growing confidence in the water is something to celebrate!
In the classroom, the boys had great fun taking part in our drive-thru activity, where they got to order food and work with money. This hands-on learning experience helped them practise their maths skills in a fun and practical way — and there were plenty of smiles all around!
Everyone is also looking forward to the start of extra murals next week. There’s great excitement in the air as the boys prepare to balance learning, sport, and fun during these final weeks together.
We’re so proud of how far our boys have come and are excited for all the wonderful experiences still to come in Term 4! |
Grade 2 |

The boys are so happy to be back at school and have managed to get back into the swing of things rather quickly. On Monday they enjoyed listening to and telling their holiday news to their friends and teachers. It seems that they have had such a lovely break but have also somehow managed to grow and few centimetres during the holiday. The boys had their first, class swimming lesson on Tuesday and did incredibly well despite the cloudy weather. The pool’s heaters have been on since the beginning of term 3 which has helped immensely with the beginning of our swimming season. We continue to focus on long vowel sound in spelling this term and have learned that Oscar Orange has had a difficult time in Letterland as Orvil has changed Oscars usual O sound to ‘or’. The boys have created colourful popcorn boxes during one of our spelling lessons.
Time truly does fly when you are having fun and it’s hard to believe that we have just seven weeks left of this year. It is very important that the grade 2 boys school attendance is consistent and that they work with their teachers as they are prepared for the transition to the Prep school. Exciting times are ahead! It is always such a pleasure to reflect on how much our grade 2s have grown in independence and maturity. We are so proud of the gentlemen that they have become and look forward to spending our last few weeks with them at the Pre-Prep. |
