FRIDAY 18 November 2022

Dear ParentsThere is much excitement on the Pre-Prep campus. This week was laden with preparations for the various presentations that will be taking place in the next few weeks. This was escalated by the new jungle gym that is unfolding before the eyes of the very inquisitive Grade 2 boys, who have been eyeing the new Grade 1 jungle gym with envy over the past few months. They are determined to make the most of the few weeks left, climbing and playing on this most impressive structure. We sent some little people off to swim in their first gala which was a huge highlight, hosted a tea for the Grade 2 gentlemen in training and enjoyed a wonderful chapel presentation from the Grade N (green) class on Monday. This evening the Grade 2 fathers and sons will have their annual “campout” and as you can imagine, there is much discussion and planning happening amongst the boys. We do hope that this is a fun and memorable evening for all. Next week we have our Gr 1 and 2 Carols service in the Memorial Chapel as well as our Gr N and R Nativity in the theatre. The boys have been practicing very hard and are extremely excited to invite you to join in these very special events. We wish you all a blessed and restful weekend.

Kind regards

TAKE NOTE
School closing times

Please take note of the school closing times on the last day of the year.  The end of the 2022 year is on Wednesday 7 December.  Staggered closing times allow for less crowding at the gate.  Grade N will be dismissed at 10am;  Grade R at 10.10am; Grade 1 at 10.20am and Grade 2 at 10.30am.  There will be no aftercare on this day.
GENERAL INFO
Drop and Go

We have been asked to please remind parents that the drop and go area near reception, needs to be kept clear with no cars parked on the left hand side.  This limits the opportunity for other parents to drive through and the area then becomes unsafe for all. Thank you for your understanding and co-operation. Grade R parents please familiarise yourselves and your son  with this area so that the transition to being dropped off next year, is a seamless one.
HIGHLIGHTS
Grade N
Grade N has been a hive of activity this week! Our theme was 'Space' and the boys have enjoyed taking part in various art activities and participated in theme discussions with great excitement and enthusiasm. We have also been practising very hard for our Nativity Play next week and have started making Christmas cards in anticipation of the Festive season ahead.
Grade R

The Grade Rs have been on Safari this week. They have presented orals on wild animals and have taught their peers and teachers many new facts.  The boys have enjoyed some beautiful theme related art and had lots of fun coding the robotic mice.

Grade 1

Throughout the term we have been looking at famous woman who challenged the norms of society and achieved greatness in their lifetime. Amelia Earhart has been the latest inspiration. Not only for her amazing flying feats, but also for her engineering skills. The boys delighted in their flight lessons where they designed planes that would cover the furthest distance.  After the test flight they had to reflect upon their performance and evaluate whose plane worked best.  The boys have been learning about simple machines, which was taken a step further with the glider demo by Mrs Samsoodien.  They then wrote super sentences to capture their flight lesson on paper. Our Grade 1’s are soaring to new heights!

Grade 2

On Monday morning after our Chapel service, the Grade 2’s stopped to look at the small crosses that had been placed outside the Memorial Chapel for Remembrance Day. We have also been working hard in music lessons getting ready for our Carol Service and have had fun looking for the elves that have come to visit us in our classroom. The boys have been reminded of the ‘’ar’’ sound we are revising as we look at our continuous line drawings of cars. Our cup and saucer pictures are also making our classrooms look bright and colourful. There has been a lot of excitement during the week as we continue to watch the new jungle gym area develop.
