FRIDAY 25 November 2022

Dear Parents

This week has been a hive of activity for all our boys. From the youngest to the oldest little fellow, the excitement has been tangible. Our Grade 1 and 2 boys celebrated their end of year Carols service called The Smallest Star, last night with their parents in our beautiful War Memorial Chapel. We were full to capacity and the singing and acting was once again spectacular. Thank you to all the parents who joined us for this very special evening. A special thank you to our secret item – our teacher assistants, support staff, interns and stooge who rocked the stage with their rendition of “Mary did you know”. This morning our theatre was bursting at the seams as we hosted our Grade N and R Nativity. The spontaneity and excitement were tangible. Our boys were so proud to show everyone what they have been rehearsing for so long! A huge congratulations to each boy who did their very best this week! As we head into week 8 of the term, we have much to look forward to. Please make sure boys attend school as there are many fun activities planned for these last few weeks and we would not like them to miss out!  Wishing you all a wonderful weekend.

Kind regards

PRE-PREP PRAYER GROUP
Message from our Youth Pastor

The Lord be with you
I greet you all with the festive spirit, Feliz Navidad.
I am just so overwhelmed and full of grace after the past two days, with the Grade 1 and 2 Carol Service yesterday and the Grade N and R Nativity. These have been so beautiful and the turnout has been overwhelming, thank you again to all staff and parents who worked extra hours to make these services a success, but a special thank to your precious boys for the beautiful exhibition.

Let us pray for this new season of Advent
Lord we thank you for your Son who was born in Bethlehem; a place for the lowly, allowing all those who yearn to receive Him, to find Him wrapped in a manger in a stable.
Amen

HIGHLIGHTS
Grade N

Ahoy matey! In between our Nativity Play preparation the boys have been exploring Pirates! They have been involved in making maps, pirate hats, and treasure chests! The boys used their creativity and imagination as they took on the role of pirates on a mission to find treasure!

Grade R

The Grade R boys have been incredibly busy rehearsing for their Nativity Play, and in between the mayhem, we learnt all about Science experiments!  From centrifugal forces, paper mache volcanoes and a card trick, to budding engineers building bridges.  We LOVE science!  The boys are so excited for their end of year party at Greenpoint Park on Tuesday 29 November!  Spoiler Alert…See  if you can spot Elf on the shelf this coming Christmassy week!

Grade 1

The Elf’s have arrived in Grade 1 and there has been much excitement this week. Some of these Elf’s have been quite mischievous. We have also been very busy practising for our Carol service. The boys have enjoyed learning about Lonnie Johnson and the super soaker. We had the chance to invent and design our very own super soaker.

Grade 2
The Grade 2 boys had the ‘best playdate ever’ last Friday at the father and son Camp Out.  We have heard stories all week about how late they were allowed to stay up and all the games that they played.  Our spelling sound this week has been the ‘au’ sound and the boys wrote such interesting stories about an astronaut.  In Art Club, we experimented with bringing the reality and fantasy worlds together.  The boys have been very creative working with the theme ‘Monsters in the city’.  I’m pretty sure we have a few future architects in our midst.
U7 and U8 gala at SACS

A group of U7 and U8 boys took part in a fun gala at SACS on Thursday 17 November. We took three U8 teams and two U7 teams and swam relay races against boys from SACS, Rondebosch, Wynberg and Western Province Prep School. The aim of the gala was to have fun and give our swimmers a chance to participate in various races against other schools. We are so proud of the boys who took part. They were very excited and some were very nervous, but were able to relax and have fun. Thanks to the parents who came to support our boys who were swimming in the gala. Well done to all our swimmers - we are so proud of you!
