FRIDAY 14 October 2022

Dear Parents

I am sure, like me, you have all been sitting plotting all the up and coming events on you calendars. After the past two years of ‘pause’, events and end of year festivities are returning with a bang! While it is easy to become overwhelmed with all on our calendars, I have been mindful of the ‘One day at a time’ philosophy. This can really have a profound impact on your life. I will live one day at a time and do what I can today because that’s the only phase of time that I can control. What you do at this very moment is what will go on to define what the next moment will be.

We all know it is valuable to plan ahead, but be reminded that all we have control over is this very day. Modelling this philosophy to our children can really help them in prioritising their worries. Three quick questions to help your children prioritise their worries or problems: Am I going to remember this problem in the next 5 minutes? Am I going to remember this problem in the next 5 days? Am I going to remember this problem in the next 5 months? If the answer is yes to the last question, it is worth worrying about!

We can be wasteful by draining all our energy and emotions on the worrying about what tomorrow might bring, or we can reorient our focus and energy on what we can bring to our today. Learn to live one day at a time and it will bring more joy, clam, productivity, and happiness into your life.

Wishing you all a happy, worry-free weekend.

Mrs Heather Fraser

PRE-PREP PRAYER GROUP
Message for our Youth Pastor

Let us start our term with prayer.

Lord, as we begin a new term, make us ready, attentive and available to hear you.
Thank you for the gift of being able to rise each day with the assurance that You walk through it with us.
Thank you for the gifts of creativity and uniqueness, and for the energy to put them to good use.

May all that we are today, all that we hope to be, all our encounters, reflections, and even our frustrations and failings be placed in your hands.

May the work we do and the manner in which we do it, bring new hope, new life, and courage to all we come in contact with this term. As you, Lord, sat amongst scholars you asked questions, so we too ask that you may be bless our school and make it a lively centre for sound learning and new discoveries.

Amen

HIGHLIGHTS
Grade N
It was wonderful to see our enthusiastic Grade N's back at school and to hear their holiday news this week. Our transport theme has been a hit. We've loved using waste materials to create and have engaged in different conversations around various types and modes of transport. We look forward to extending this interesting topic next week.
Grade R
The start to Term 4 was abuzz with excitement! Holiday news, catchup with friends, and the all-time favourite, playtime! The Grade R’s have grown so much, evident in their fun competitive games, finding some playdough to mould quietly, or creating another universe in the sandpit.  Grade R is the best!
Grade 1
The boys had a wonderful Spring break filled with lots of exciting adventures. We are so proud of them using all there writing strategies to produce super sentences.
Grade 2
The grade two boys are so happy to be back at school and have wasted no time getting back into the swing of things. They have shared their happy holiday news, produced some beautiful cursive handwriting and have had fun drawing and painting delightful clowns during Art. This term we encourage our boys to continue working very hard at practicing the values of the Mitre so that they can earn the chance to wear the Gentleman’s Badge and be a sterling example to others. This term is going to be bitter sweet for us in Grade Two as we prepare our gentlemen for their move over to the Prep school.
