FRIDAY 21 October 2022

Dear Parents

Today was the first of the “goodbyes” for 2022.  What an emotional send off to the Matric class - we all wish them the very best as they prepare for their upcoming final exams.  We also say goodbye today, to our wonderful Ms Amanda Mzinyati who is going off on her maternity leave.  We wish her all the very best as she awaits her new arrival.
Thank you to all the parents who attended the coffee connections this morning.  We do hope that the Prep staff were able to answer many of your questions and trust that your boys will have an effortless transition into the Prep school. They will certainly be in good hands.
On Monday some of our athletes are heading off to run in the athletics meeting in Paarl and on Wednesday at Rhenish.  We wish all those running, the very best and I trust that this will be a wonderful experience for them all. Winning and losing is such a difficult concept to navigate but such an important life lesson.

As we head into the final week of the takkie drive, please feel free to send those takkies that your children have outgrown, for them to be rehomed to some very needy little people.  Thank you to all those who have already sent some towards our collection.
Please could you all just check uniform items and sports equipment and replace names that may have fallen off.  We seem to be collecting an immense amount of lost property and very few have names on.  Items such as tennis racquets and slip slops also need to be clearly marked. Thank you to all those that do have their items clearly marked as it is far easier to return these to their rightful owners.
Please could we also ask you to browse your bookshelves for any school library books.  It seems that many have not been returned and we would so appreciate them being brought back.
ALL Grade 1 and 2 boys are please to be dressed in their summer khaki uniform on Monday as they will be attending Bishops Praise during the morning.

We wish all our Hindu families a very Happy Diwali on Monday. May it be a wonderful celebration with family and friends.
Wishing you all a wonderful, restful weekend.

Kind regards

DIARY DATES
Tuesday 25 October Grade N outing

This is for the rest of the Grade N group that have not yet attended the outing.  What excitement amongst these little people and what a wonderful outing for them!
Friday 28 October Civvies Day- Cleaning Staff collection

Each year we have a collection to be able to contribute financially to a voucher together with our food hampers, for our cleaning staff.  These are the hidden fairies that clean up, wipe up, tidy up, lock up and so much more.  They are the first to arrive and the last to leave every day.  No contribution is too big or too small for these amazing ladies. Please give whatever contribution you wish to this collection.  I can assure you that this is always hugely appreciated by these staff members.  Any civvies may be worn. Thank you in advance, we will send out a reminder later next week.

PRE-PREP PRAYER GROUP
Message from our Youth Pastor

This week we looked at the story of Job, one of God's most faithful and blameless servants. Job was righteous, worked hard, remained humble and shared everything he had. We specifically reflected on him being faithful on some of the worst days of his life. When Job's life seemed to be falling apart, he continued to trust God. Job's faith and God's faithfulness resulted in his complete restoration. In fact, scripture tells us that the Lord blessed Job's latter days more than he had blessed his former days.

Let us pray
Loving and merciful Lord we yearn to remain faithful and unmoved from your grace, even during our most difficult days. Grant that we may trust in your unchanging care and providence when we have lost everything that we hold dear. May we remember to worship and adore you in our lowest moments. We thank you for your restoration and abundant blessing upon our lives and we pray this in the name of Christ our Lord.
Amen.

HIGHLIGHTS
Grade N

The Grade N's have spent a busy week learning all about the different types of transport and participating in various indoor and outdoor activities.  The boys particularly enjoyed painting and playing in the enormous cardboard boxes that were gifted to us by the Grade 2's!

We also went on our very first outing to the Museum of Childhood.  This was an exciting event as the boys got to ride in the school bus and had a lot of fun at the venue making new discoveries and taking part in arts and crafts
Grade R

Grade R is always such a busy place, and this week has been no exception. At the moment everyone is playing together beautifully and the friendship bonds are strong. The boys have had a lot of time to get to know one another and we are proud to say hardly any upsets are observed anymore, but only firm connections and caring attitudes towards peers. We are proud to see the lovely manners towards teachers and friends. Well done Grade R gentleman!

Grade 1

It's been a busy week in Grade 1! The week started off with Mrs Meredith's class leading the chapel service. The boys taught the school the story of Job. We learned that we should rejoice and speak to God in good times, and to thank and speak to God in bad times as well. We learned alot about trusting God through the story of Job.
In class we introduced Magic e in Literacy, and in maths we are learning about and playing with money in preparation for our Trading Day. A huge thank you to all our parents who have come to share such lively stories with our boys on a Friday. We appreciate you!

Grade 2

The Grade 2 boys have been having fun learning about Roman Numerals this week. They have also been very active at Gross Motor working on strengthening their core and developing their balancing skills. There was great excitement playing a game aiming at a target to improve their accuracy. All the classes have a new purple beanbag which will be fun for the teachers and boys to use when reading in the classroom.
