FRIDAY 30 September 2022

Dear Parents

We have managed to pack so much into this past term but looking at term 4, one realises how much there is still ahead before the end of 2022!  Our calendar has filled up considerably and there is something new to look forward to every week.   The boys have worked hard and played with just as much gusto!   This morning, in our final  assembly, we had a visit from the cookie monsters who came to do the draw and announce the winners of the raffles.  The following boys were the lucky winners: Kai Gomes (Gr 1), Vihaan Jeram (Gr 1), Mason Miranda (Gr R), Johan le Roux (Gr 2), Sebastian Smith (Gr 1) Shae Veerasamy (Gr 2), Grayson Kennedy (Gr 2), Alex Turck (Gr 2), Grayson Hatton-Jones (Gr R), Ethan Josephs (Gr R), Max Larsen (Gr N), Elijah Fernandez (Grade N) and Logan McGuire (Gr N).  What excitement amongst the boys - a huge shout out to the PA for organising such a fun morning and a very successful raffle. Thank you from us all!    We bid farewell to Mrs Greeff who was in for Mrs Anstey and Mrs Furst who was in for Mrs Van Zyl.  We have so enjoyed having them as part of the Pre-Prep and I know that the boys have really enjoyed having them at school this term.   Please keep an eye on the parent calendar for any upcoming events.    Thank you to all parents who have contributed in any way, no matter how small. Your support is hugely appreciated.
Wishing Mrs Fraser a wonderful birthday on 4th October and Mrs Anstey an exciting birthday on 11th October as she returns to school after her long leave.  Wishing you all a most wonderful holiday. May you return safely and well-rested.
Kind regards

PRE-PREP PRAYER GROUP
Message from Youth Pastor

The Lord be with you

We come to the end of a term, a long and busy term filled with many events and activities. Now we need to have a break and a moment to breath and be in the presence of friends and family, those nearby and far.

We, as the spiritual and pastoral incumbents, would like to wish you all a blessed holiday and time away. A time filled with rest and restoration so that on our return we may be refuelled with energy to finish the final stretch of the race we have embarked on.

We pray that you will all be sustained by the scripture reading from the Gospel of Mathew 28:20. The letter ends with words of assurance - "… I am with you always to the close of ages".

Let us pray

O God, our Heavenly Father whose glory fills the whole creation and whose presence we find wherever we may go, preserve those who travel by sea, road, and sky and surround them with your loving care whilst protecting them from all danger. Please bring them to safety at the end of their journey and grant that we may meet again in the coming term.

In the name of Christ our Lord

Amen

HIGHLIGHTS
Grade N

Last week we were lucky enough to learn more about the different Heritage of all the boys and teachers. On Tuesday the boy’s all participated in a Magic show. They had the opportunity to learn how to do some exciting tricks. The theme of this week has been recycling. The boys have engaged in interesting discussions about recycling and how to take care of your environment.

Grade R

We’ve had a fun and creative revision week in Grade R! The boys have been working on their body images. They traced their classmates, decorated them, and looked at the similarities and differences between them. We have been revising measuring and the boys were challenged to build Numicon towers, which we measured, to find out which tower was the tallest. They boys also got creative during playtime and built a restaurant out of box construction.  It was an enjoyable last week to a busy term!

Grade 1

The Grade 1’s ended the term with a bang! Thank you to Nick Stodel and Justin Emrich and their team from Stodels who came to teach the boys all about the plant life cycle and planting. The boys had such a wonderful time planting marigolds and pea seeds.
We also continued to celebrate Heritage Day by making some South African foods. Our boys are so blessed to have had Sunikee Veerasamy, Suraya Pillay, Waszzm Dadarker, Maryam Abdulla, Zahira Mohamed and Buddy van den Berg come and help us with all our food preparation.

We are always grateful to all the moms, dads and grandparents, who have been so involved in our learning this term! We wish you a restful holiday.

Grade 2

It has been a fun week in Grade 2! Our week started off with a guest speaker, Brad Barritt, who came to talk to our boys about sportsmanship. The boys thoroughly enjoyed hearing from an ex-rugby player and have been working on their team playing skills with his great advice in mind.

Next up on Tuesday, we had Ann and Eileen from Atom Ant come and do a science show. Each boy also got to make their own slime!

To end the week off and to put our sportsmanship tips into practise, we had an inter-class soccer tournament on the AstroTurf on Thursday. All boys played exceptionally well and enjoyed the sunshine too.

Now it’s time for everyone to recharge their low batteries! Happy holidays all!
