WEDNESDAY 21 June 2023

Dear Parents

We have come to the end of a very busy term.  The Aladdin Kids production was a very big event in the school calendar and one that takes an enormous amount of time from both boys and staff.  We can certainly look back and be proud of all that we delivered!  Despite this, we have still managed to fit so much into these past 10 weeks. Thank you to all parents for your support, we wish you all a wonderful Winter Holiday!

Huge congratulations to Nazli Meredith who married Grant Kingwill on 17 June and Charmaine Haynes who is due to marry Tyrone Adams on 22 June. We wish them much happiness. A very Happy Birthday to Mrs Nomhle Tabata who celebrated her birthday on 18 June and to  Mrs Carmen van Zyl who has a birthday on 5 July, Ms Noluvuyo Tandwa who will be celebrating a very special birthday during the holidays, on 8 July and  Mrs Melody Green who celebrates on 10 July.  Congratulations to Ms Kelly Kortjie who is going to be on leave and awaiting the arrival of her precious new baby boy. Wrap up warmly and enjoy the break!
Kind regards

PRE-PREP PRAYER GROUP
Message from Mr Tsotso

Loving and Gracious God,

As we gather here today, we lift our hearts in gratitude for the journey we have undertaken  this past term at Bishops Pre-prep. We thank you for guiding us through the academic challenges, the sports competitions, and every obstacle that may have come our way. You have been our steadfast companion, providing strength, wisdom, and encouragement.
Lord, we ask for your blessings upon each student, teacher, staff member, and parent who has contributed to the vibrant and nurturing community we have at Bishops Pre-prep. May their efforts be rewarded, and may they find joy in the fruits of their labour. Grant us all a sense of fulfilment and achievement as we reach this end of term.
We pray especially for those who will be embarking on journeys, both near and far, during this break. We ask for your protection and guidance as they travel to different shores, that they may experience safe and joyful adventures. Please watch over them and keep them secure in your loving care.
Additionally, Lord, we extend our well wishes to those who will be leaving the Bishops family to join other parts of the world. May they find new beginnings filled with opportunities for growth and success. Bless them with strength and resilience as they face the challenges of transition, and may they always carry with them the values and lessons they have learned within our community.
Finally, dear God, we ask for your continued presence and guidance in our lives. Help us to remain united, even when physically apart. Inspire us to treat one another with kindness, respect, and compassion, extending the warmth of the Bishops family to all those we encounter. May we always be a shining example of love and understanding in a world that often lacks these virtues.
We offer this prayer with hearts full of gratitude and hope. May the bonds we have formed and the memories we have created sustain us until we gather once again. In your holy name, we pray.

Amen.

VUSA News

VUSA will be hosting its annual Mandela Day clean-up in Langa. This event aims to instil the values of active citizenry in our children whilst honouring the legacy of Nelson Mandela.

Event Details:
Date:                    Monday 17 July (to accommodate the boys during their school holiday)
Time:                    Meet at 8:45am at the Langa Sports Ground in Bitterhout Street for a 9am start
Duration:             67 Minutes of cleaning
Gloves and black bags will be provided.

Our primary goal is to bring communities together and make a positive impact on the Langa Quarter.
In case the weather is chilly, we have partnered with Shoprite, who will be bringing their soup truck to keep us warm. We will have various games and activities to entertain the children throughout the morning, ensuring it's a fun-filled experience for everyone.
We will also have the braais going and serving boerie rolls at lunchtime.  If you and your family plan to attend, please click HERE to let us know and indicate if you would like us to cater for you.

By participating in this Mandela Day clean-up, we not only pay tribute to a great leader but also demonstrate our commitment to building a better community. Let's inspire our children to become active citizens who make a difference.
We look forward to seeing you on 17 July.
