Dear Parents
I am delighted to share some exciting news. Construction of our brand-new hockey astro is about to begin! The new facility will be located adjacent to the current astro and in front of the Grade R playground and will give our boys an outstanding space to develop their skills and enjoy the game they love in the future.
To ensure the safety of our pupils, staff and visitors, the construction area will start to be closed off from Monday, with the official breaking of ground expected to take place on Wednesday, 26 October.
While this is an exciting milestone for our school, we anticipate some temporary disruptions as building work gets underway. Drop-off and pick-up, and aftercare collections may need to be adjusted during certain phases of the project. We will communicate any changes to these arrangements at the beginning of next week to ensure that everyone is well informed and prepared and we will continue to do so as the project unfolds.
This development represents a significant investment in our sporting facilities and our boys' future. The new astro will provide increased opportunities for training, matches and skill development, while enhancing the overall sporting experience for current and future generations of pupils. We are incredibly excited to see this project come to life and the positive impact it will have.
Thank you for your patience, understanding and support as we embark on this exciting journey.

PATIENCE: GROWING TAKES TIME
Fruit does not appear on a tree overnight. It needs sunshine, rain, care and time to grow. Patience, one of the fruits of the Spirit, grows in us in much the same way.
Our children practise patience when they wait for their turn, learn a new skill, complete a difficult task, listen to someone else or try again after making a mistake. These may seem like small moments, but God uses them to shape kind, confident and thoughtful hearts.
As parents and teachers, we can encourage our children by reminding them that growing takes time. We can celebrate their effort, gently help them to wait and assure them that they do not need to get everything right immediately.
Parenting is also a journey of growth. As our children learn to manage their emotions, become more independent and discover the world around them, we are learning too. Some days require more patience than others, and we will not always respond perfectly. Yet God meets us with grace and continues to shape us through the privilege and responsibility of raising our children.
May our homes and classrooms be places where children and adults feel safe to learn, wait, try again and trust that God is helping us all to grow. |

| VUSA 24-Hour Cycle Challenge |

The Pre-Prep staff have signed up a bike for the VUSA 24-Hour Cycle Challenge, a special event supporting a cause that is close to the heart of the Bishops community.
If you would like to support the staff team’s fundraising efforts, please donate to the One Hour Wonders team here.
We would also love Pre-Prep parents to join the fun by entering a team of their own. Teams may include up to 24 riders, with just one rule: the bike must keep moving for the full 24 hours!
If cycling is not your thing, gather a team for our first-ever potjie competition. There will be great prizes and a surprise celebrity judge choosing the winning potjie.
Not participating? Please still come down to Piley Rees Field on 4 and 5 September to support the riders and enjoy the event. There will be loads of entertainment for the children, food stalls, a bar for adults and plenty of gees.

Last week was certainly one to remember! We had the most wonderful time celebrating Grandparents’ Day, and the excitement was contagious from the moment our grandparents and special people arrived; everyone dressed to the nines and showing off their most creative and wonderfully wacky hats!
The boys sang their songs beautifully and recited their poems with such enthusiasm and confidence. It was a very special morning filled with happy faces, big smiles and lots of love.
This week, we are off on another exciting adventure as we explore Transport! We’ll be learning about all the different ways we travel, discovering a little bit about the history behind different forms of transport, and talking about how people travelled long ago compared to how we travel today.
And, of course, there will be plenty of hands-on fun! The boys will be folding their very own origami planes, boats and gliders. So, parents, keep some spare paper handy at home… you never know when a little origami transport workshop might take over the kitchen table!

This week, the Grade R boys have been learning about Yellow Yo-yo man and how he made friends with a pet Yak! We created some pictures to show how good he is at selling yo-yos and this will help him to buy a new yacht. Our theme for the next two weeks is Space. Much discussion has been going into the planets and how far they are from the sun and what it means to live on earth. This is always such a popular theme with the Grade R boys. Our Grandparents Day last week was such a wonderful celebration of family, love and togetherness. Our boys did so well in their little show, and we were all so proud of them. It was a morning to remember with fondness and lovely special memories made. Thank you to all the Grandparents and special guests who came along to celebrate with us. |

What a spectacular few weeks we have had in Grade 1! Before our special Grandparents' Day celebration, we used our imaginations to write stories about spending a day on a farm with our grandparents. The boys filled their stories with sleepy sheep, slippery slopes, and lots of smiles! We were then delighted to welcome our wonderful grandparents into our classroom. We listened closely as they shared stories about their school days, and the boys enjoyed interviewing them and learning all about their experiences. In Literacy, we have started blending sounds together and are becoming super readers! We have enjoyed listening to some silly smoothie stories filled with lots of our special s and l blend sounds. From slimy sloths to slippery slides and sweet strawberries, these stories have helped us practise hearing and reading blend words in a fun and memorable way. We are becoming more confident readers every day as we spot these sounds in our books and classroom activities. In Mathematics, we have started learning about place value. Using Dienes blocks, we have been making numbers with tens and ones and learning how numbers are built. We then used our understanding of tens and ones to help us build bridges for our Billy Goats to cross. The boys showed great skill and determination as they designed and tested their bridges. We are also loving our work with money. Sorting, selecting, and studying coins has been lots of fun, and we are becoming more skilful at recognising and using different coins. Another exciting learning adventure has been exploring the clock. We have started learning about time and are slowly discovering how the hands on a clock help us know when it is time to learn, play, and sleep. |

| Grade 2 has been busy settling into the term, and there has been plenty of learning and creativity along the way. We have been exploring rhyming words and developing our ability to identify and create words with the same ending sounds. In Mathematics, we have been learning to measure accurately and use our measuring tools carefully, as well as developing our understanding of multiplication through equal groups. The pupils have also enjoyed getting creative and making beautiful stained-glass windows. It has been lovely to see their confidence growing as they apply their skills and take pride in their work |
