Dear Parents
We are thrilled to announce two special upcoming events at Bishops Pre-Preparatory that are sure to create lasting memories for our boys and especially their beloved grandparents. We will honour the invaluable role that grandparents play in our lives and celebrate our school's rich cultural heritage.
Grade N and Grade R Grandparents' Day Celebration
We invite the Grandparents or special person of our Grade N and R boys to join us for a heartwarming celebration. This event will feature a delightful concert where our youngest boys will showcase their talents through performances that they have been eagerly preparing. It promises to be a morning filled with smiles, laughter, and precious moments. The grandparents are then welcome to join us for tea, then meet the boys and their teachers in their classrooms for a short visit. Boys may leave school early with their grandparents.
Grade 1 and 2 175 Cultural Celebration
In honour of Bishops' 175th birthday, we are hosting a special cultural celebration for our Grade 1 and Grade 2 boys. Grandparents and parents are warmly invited to join us for this event. The celebration will highlight the cultural programme through performances and a showcase of various cultural activities. Grandparents and parents will have tea first, enjoy the celebration and may also collect their boys to take them home.
School will continue for all boys not able to go home with their grandparents.
Grandparents hold a cherished place in our hearts and play a pivotal role in our families. They are the keepers of family traditions, the storytellers of our heritage, and the pillars of wisdom and unconditional love. Celebrating these events with our grandparents is our way of expressing gratitude for their endless love and support.
We look forward to welcoming you to these special events and celebrating the joy, love, and heritage that our grandparents bring into our lives
Kind regards
TARYN BAIN

Message from Mr Tsotso |
|
The Lord be with you.
This past Monday morning, we had the joy of welcoming parents and grandparents to our Family Chapel Service. It was a heartwarming sight to see generations come together in worship, starting the week with a sense of togetherness and unity.
Our service centred around the theme found in Ephesians 2:14-16, which speaks about Christ breaking down the divides and bringing all people to His household. This powerful message reminded us of the importance of unity and oneness, encouraging us to embrace and celebrate our differences as we are part of a greater whole.
The chapel was filled with the spirit of community and the warmth of shared faith, echoing the beautiful concept of Ubuntu: "I am because we are." This African philosophy reminds us that our humanity is interconnected, and that we find our strength and identity in the relationships we have with others.
As we move forward, let's carry this spirit of unity and togetherness in our hearts, fostering a community where everyone feels valued and included.
Together, we can build a better, more compassionate world for all.
"Ubuntu – I am because we are." Let's strive to embody this beautiful principle in our daily lives, nurturing unity and love across our country and the world |

GENERAL INFO |
Kinderkineticis by Jeanne Botha |
|
Winter has arrived, and our young adventurers have been thoroughly enchanted by our winter wonderland-themed lesson. Amidst the snowy landscapes, they have embarked on exciting activities, from exploring winter clothing to constructing igloos while engaging in educational experiences centered around numbers and the art of building snowmen.
Our Kinderkinetics program is dedicated to nurturing and enhancing your children's motor skills, coordination, and physical fitness. Through a carefully curated blend of physical activities, exercises, and games, we aim to foster holistic development, encompassing not only their physical abilities but also their cognitive and social skills.
To further enrich their learning experience, we encourage you to challenge your sons to recall and share what they have learned each week, testing their memory and deepening their understanding.
Stay tuned for more exciting updates and opportunities to develop new skills in the weeks to come. Winter is just the beginning of a thrilling journey with Kinderkinetics in term 3. |

HIGHLIGHTS |
Grade 2 |
|
The past three weeks of this term have seemed busier than usual. During the first week, we encountered a storm so strong that we needed to stay home so that we could remain dry and safe. The excitement in week 2 was palpable from the very beginning of the week as we prepared to host VUSA on Mandela Day. Today, we are grateful that the weather has played along allowing our boys to visit Newlands Forest. Our school days have certainly been filled with formal as well as fantastic informal learning opportunities. The boys have had the opportunity to share their school and some lunch with a VUSA friend; a lesson that won’t easily be forgotten. During Art, they became architects and drew sketches of the Eiffel Tower. They also had the opportunity to put their designer thinking caps on and designed a shirt for Mr Mandela. The boys have started learning to write in Cursive and are showing such skill. Today, as we enjoyed a clear blue sky above and a crisp breeze in the air, the opportunities and learning experiences are endless for our Grade 2 boys. |
Grade 1 |
|
Grade One is a busy work, investigate and play environment. We continue to learn about different farm animals. The boys experienced both building and writing about homes for the three little pigs. Soggy fields provided a good opportunity for what it feels like to be a pig in the mud. Testing out whose jelly tot house would stand the test of the hairdryer wolf resulted in great excitement. This week some of the boys wrote about how they made sandwiches for Mandela Day. They have taken to writing sentences like a duck to water! This week the boys have enjoyed learning about goats and building bridges. Thankfully the sun shone a bit so that we were able to get out and enact the billy goats on our jungle gym bridge. Our rainy day allowed time for bridge building. Our budding engineers loved the experience! |
Grade R |
|
Our Grade R boys have had a happy and productive week, learning all about our wonderful city, Cape Town. We shared our favourite spots to visit, and created Lego constructions of, amongst others, Total Ninja and Greenpoint Park. We designed a route for the Red Bus in our playground and scooters, go-karts and wagons were travelling round and round the track, taking excited would-be tourists to all the best spots in our City. Together with ticket sales, the tours were a hit! Preparations are under way for Grandparents Day, so if you hear some beautiful singing and see lots of actions in songs, this is the treat in store. |
Grade N |
|
We've faired the storms and now we're back in action playing outside every moment there's no rain! Our gym area saw lots of budding gym bunnies working out and flexing their muscles. We even had a running competition with Mrs Fraser around our track - she's quite slow and the boys all beat her. We rolled hoops down our big hill and found any excuse to be outside really! Our two week theme of insects has been well received with beautiful ladybugs, beehives and caterpillars being formed in the art room. We had a dentists room set out one day and even the laptops were brought in as x ray machines - lots of important work that goes on here! With the sandpit being open this week, there were food drops happening and many a delicious item coming out the sand 'kitchen'. We may all have cold hands, but in Grade N the hearts are certainly warm with all the activity going on being back at school.
