Dear Parents

Thank you so much for joining us on Monday morning at our Family Chapel service. It was good to be reminded of the sacred responsibility and joy of shaping young lives—through the ordinary acts of kindness, encouragement, and presence.

Playground update
Our playground is almost complete. We are in the final stages. The boys have loved having new adventures. The playground supports functional play, helping boys build strength, coordination, balance, and gross motor skills through climbing, hanging, crawling, and jumping activities. The symbolic and constructive elements promote imaginative thinking, storytelling, and problem-solving, encouraging boys to create their own games and scenarios while making sense of the world around them. The calming design with neutral colours and organic shapes fosters a sense of safety and comfort, helping boys feel secure, confident, and more willing to take sensible risks in their play. Sensory-rich textures and interactive components offer multi-sensory experiences that support sensory integration and enhance fine motor skills. The playground is designed for both cooperative and independent play. It encourages teamwork, negotiation, turn-taking, and empathy, while also providing space for introspection and solitary play when needed.
With non-prescriptive play elements, the jungle gyms promote open-ended exploration, allowing boys to use their creativity freely without fixed rules or outcomes. The balance of structured and free-form spaces caters to different personalities, energy levels, and developmental stages—ensuring every boy can find something that engages and challenges him.

Overall, the new jungle gyms are not just about fun—they are purposefully crafted environments that support whole-child development in a joyful, engaging, and inclusive way. Please click here to view some playground photographs.

Executive Strategic Breakaway
The combined Executives of the school will be away from this coming Sunday to Tuesday for a Strategic Planning session. I will still be contactable via email, however. This is an annual process which allows us to look across the school at our shared vision and core goals, ensuring alignment and renewed focus. This will feed into the overall strategy of Council.

Happy birthday to Mrs Stuart for 9 June.

Kind regards

Ascension Day: A Moment to Remember, A Mission to Embrace

Ascension Day is a deeply meaningful milestone in the Christian calendar. It marks the moment when the risen Jesus was taken up into heaven in the sight of His disciples, forty days after Easter. But it is not simply about Jesus leaving. In fact, it is a day full of purpose, promise, and empowerment.

The Ascension reminds us that Jesus reigns—not as a distant figure, but as a living Lord who sees, knows, and intercedes for the world He loves. He ascended not to abandon His followers, but to send the Holy Spirit, who would dwell with us and work through us.

For our school community, Ascension Day speaks into our lives in a very real and timely way. It invites us to lift our eyes above the noise and rush of daily life—to remember that we belong to a bigger story. It challenges us not to stand still, staring into the sky for answers, but to live out Jesus’ message with joy, courage, and hope.

This message is especially important in our South African context. We are a community made up of many stories, backgrounds, and hopes. And yet, we are bound together by a shared calling: to be light bearers in our homes, classrooms, and neighborhoods.

For our children, this means learning to care for others, include the left out, and stand up for what is right. For parents, it is a call to live our values authentically and plant seeds of faith through simple acts of love and grace. For teachers and staff, it’s a reminder that your work is sacred—you are forming lives and shaping futures with every lesson, word, and act of kindness.

Ascension Day is not just a moment to commemorate—it’s a movement to join. The risen and ascended Christ is still at work in the world, and we are His hands and feet. Every time we choose compassion over judgment, hope over cynicism, and love over fear, we reflect His light.

So may we walk forward with lifted eyes and open hearts. May we be strengthened by the Spirit, inspired by Christ’s example, and committed to bringing heaven a little closer to earth—in our school, in our homes, and in our country.

With blessings and gratitude,

HIGHLIGHTS
Grade N

In Grade N we have been enjoying our Wild Animal and Conservation Theme. We have discovered and learnt all about the Big 5 and their paired Little 5. Our boys have taken well to the theme of Conservation, discussing animals like the armadillo, sea turtle, rhino and lion that are under significant threat. It has been wonderful to hear the ideas shared by our boys about how to conserve our beautiful planet. Introducing and filling an Eco Brick at home is a good place to start, your boys will tell you all about it! We continue to thrive in our new playground and much fun can be heard as the boys run, jump, climb and explore in a safe and secure area. Keep warm as the colder weather sets in.

Grade R

Over the past two weeks, our classrooms have been buzzing with excitement as we've delved into the fascinating world of reptiles! The boys have absolutely loved learning about slithering snakes, fierce crocodiles, curious turtles, slow-moving tortoises, and all kinds of lizards—the more dangerous, the better!

We’ve also been working hard to strengthen our fine motor skills through Muscle Mania. These tricky finger tasks challenge us, but the boys have shown great determination and progress with every activity.
It was wonderful to welcome so many parents to our weekly Wednesday visits. One of the standout moments was a soccer match with the dads, plenty of fun was had by all.
Adding to the fun, some real-life construction activity took place on campus as our outdoor blinds underwent maintenance. Donning reflective vests and hard hats, the boys eagerly observed the process, true little builders in action!
From the classroom to the playground, the fun never stops, and the learning never ends!

Grade 1
Over the past two weeks, we've been on an exciting learning journey! We started on the Mathematics Train, where we explored adding and subtracting more than one number. Along the tracks, we stopped at Friends of Ten Station and peeked into the charming Bonds of 6 Houses. Then, we blasted off into space on a rocket to the Iziko Museum and Planetarium. Our space guide, Tycho, took us on a tour of the stars, launching us into our new theme. Back on Earth, we stepped into the Touch Room, where a wild collection of stuffed animals awaited us- we learnt this process is called taxidermy. Back in class, Talking Tessand Harry Hat Man arrived with their thunderous sounds—what a noisy delight! This week, our adventure continued to the moon, where we created the phases of the moon using Oreos (some may have mysteriously vanished into our tummies).
Grade 2

Creativity on the Go!

This term, our South African theme has sparked lots of excitement in Grade 2! The boys have been practising for the upcoming play, learning lines and working together with great enthusiasm. In Art, they’ve been creating wild animal masks and props, bringing the African bush to life while working on their fine motor skills and self-expression. To support our phonics learning, we’ve added creative craft activities that reinforce the sound of the week.  From ‘ee’ sheep and  “ea’ leaves, the boys are learning through fun, hands-on tasks. It’s been a wonderful blend of performance, creativity and learning—and we can’t wait to share more with you soon.
