Dear Parents
PA COMMITTEE AGM
At the Parents’ Association Committee AGM on Tuesday evening, the following six parents were elected to the Committee: Candice Basson, Sally Duncan, Claire Edwards, Matt Goodall, Deveshni Reddy, Zaba Tashe.
We will meet shortly for the Committee to elect office bearers and finalise portfolios. The Committee is also able, in terms of the PA Constitution, to co-opt a further two members.
I want to thank those stepping down - Shirley Emms, Bruce Darné, Tracy Surkont and Steph du Plooy – for their input and work. It is sometimes a seemingly thankless task, but there is so much behind the scenes work in order to sustain the PA’s outreach projects, organise community events, fundraise and general support for the school. They also often assist parents with issues and provide a useful forum for us to get feedback on ideas and processes. The school is deeply appreciative of the support they provide, as well as their role with the class reps.
Kind regards

TARYN BAIN

Message from Revd. Khwezi Bengani
“Growing Into Who God Made You To Be”
(1 Timothy 4:12)
As we journey through this final term of 2025, there is a wonderful sense of energy and anticipation in the air. The playgrounds are filled with laughter, classrooms are buzzing with learning, and all around us, we can see signs of growth. Not only in height and knowledge, but in heart and character too.
Our theme for this term, “Growing Into Who God Made You To Be,” reminds us that every child is wonderfully and uniquely created by God, with a purpose and potential that is already beginning to shine. In 1 Timothy 4:12, Paul writes, “Don’t let anyone look down on you because you are young, but set an example for the believers in speech, in conduct, in love, in faith and in purity.”
Even in these early years, our boys are learning that they don’t have to wait until they are older to make a difference. Every kind word, every act of honesty, every moment of courage, these are seeds of leadership and goodness that God is growing in them day by day.
At Bishops Pre-Prep, we see this growth everywhere:
- When a boy helps a friend who is feeling left out.
- When he remembers to say “thank you” or “sorry.”
- When he shows perseverance during a challenge.
- When he speaks words that lift others up.
These small, daily actions are the building blocks of character. They reflect the values we hold dear as a community. Kindness, respect, integrity, and love. Our prayer this term is that each boy continues to discover more of who God made him to be confident, caring, and courageous.
As parents and teachers, we have the joyful role of nurturing this growth. May we continue to guide with patience, encourage with love, and celebrate the unique gifts God has placed in every child.
Wishing you all a joyful and grace-filled weekend.
With blessings and gratitude,

Pre-Prep Athletics
On Tuesday, 21 October, the Grade 1 and 2 Athletics boys participated in the exciting Rhenish Athletics Day. It was a hot afternoon filled with energy and enthusiasm. The boys approached each race with determination and displayed outstanding sportsmanship throughout the event. A special congratulations goes to Daniel Hellebuyck, who secured first place in both the 60m and 80m races! The final meet of the season took place on Monday, 27 October, when the teams headed to Paarl Boys. Despite the late start at 18:00 and strong winds, the boys remained eager and committed, knowing this was their last chance to race this season. Once again, Daniel Hellebuyck impressed with a first place finish in the 60m.We are incredibly proud of all the boys who participated and gave their best. Their enthusiasm, resilience, and team spirit were truly inspiring. We look forward to an exciting new season of athletics next year! |

HIGHLIGHTS |
| Grade N |
 |
This week in Grade N we have welcomed warmer weather and have enjoyed all the water and sand play. Some amazing creations have been dug and built in the sandpit. The messier the better! During Kinderkinetics the boys have been hard at work practising their balancing skills as well as catching and throwing a ball into a small container. We introduced the concept of measurement during our small group lessons, and the boys had to measure a pair of scissors, a crayon, a table and their shoes. They used blocks, cubes and planks. This was a lovely lesson where the boys learnt to use words such as length, width, longer and shorter. Well done boys! |
| Grade R |

This week, our Grade R’s transformed into little shoppers and savvy spenders as we explored our theme of Money! We learned that money comes in all shapes and sizes — coins, bills, and, apparently as most knew, even shiny credit cards! Our classroom turned into a mini marketplace where everyone got to play both shopkeeper and customer. We filled our baskets, counted out coins, and made sure we had just enough to “buy” our favourite toys and treats. Some shopkeepers said, “sorry, it declined!” Along the way, we talked about saving, spending wisely, and making choices— like deciding whether to buy one big item or a few small ones. It was all fun and games, but we were learning important lessons too!

What do you want to be when you grow up? This is the question that was posed to our Grade 1 boys. Fortunately for them, in 2025, the possibilities are endless and hopefully by the time they matriculate, being a YouTuber will be old news! The boys wrote entertaining paragraphs describing their dream professions and proudly shared their ideas.
Their week included an exciting outing to Rosen Castle, where they had the opportunity to role-play a wide range of careers. The bank proved to be a popular stop, while weather reporting and baking were definite highlights, especially when they got to eat their baked creations!
Back in the classroom, things took on a surgical twist as the boys scrubbed in for “contraction surgery.” Using their literacy skills, they cut words, applied apostrophe plasters, and wrote prescriptions with great enthusiasm. As Einstein once said, “Play is the highest form of research.”
In Mathematics, the boys continued practising their money skills in preparation for the eagerly awaited Trading Day. Some budding entrepreneurs are already showing initiative by pre-selling their products. A wonderful display of creativity and confidence!
A huge thank you, Parents, for your enthusiasm and involvement. The Grade 1 Team loves sharing these joyful learning moments with your boys. |
| Grade 2 |
 |
Last week, Mrs Daames’ class embarked on an exciting explorers outing to Newlands Forest. The boys had a wonderful time discovering nature’s treasures and learning about the world around them. In class, they made their very own compasses and practiced using directions to follow a map.
The boys have been diving into spelling, focusing on the “ar” sound this week. From “star” to “car,” they’ve been mastering their words with enthusiasm. Speaking of cars, the boys also had a blast designing their own.
With the warmer weather arriving, swimming and breaktimes have become even more fun. The boys are loving the sunshine, the splash of the pool, and the joy of playing together during breaks. It’s been a week full of learning, laughter, and lively adventures! |
