FRIDAY 14 September 2018
Dear Parents

Thank you for joining us for our Science and Art evening. What a pleasure it was to walk around the Jagger Hall watching and listening to the boys presenting and explaining their work. More importantly than the experiments was hearing about the process that they followed and the learning that had taken place in preparation for this evening. I know the boys had a great deal of fun.

Your son’s art on display is quite exquisite; every boy in the school has a piece or two on show. It is a wonderful indication of the talent of our boys in this area of the school, emphasising another important ingredient of the whole child development.

We finish off our Cross Country season with the Pentangular race this afternoon involving the five boys’ schools.

Our soccer matches started yesterday against the Diski Foundation. We play Wynberg on Saturday and Rondebosch during next week.

Enjoy your weekend.

Kind regards

ROB RICHES

NEWS
Sandwich Outreach
The Grade 5's hard at work making Sandwiches for Athwood Primary. There are only two sandwich Tuesdays left this term so Grade 6's and 7's - let's pull out all the stops!
U12 Day/Night Hockey Tournament
Last Thursday Bishops and Sporting Chance hosted the Annual U12 Day/Night Hockey Tournament. Though a bitterly cold and wet day, the tournament proved to be a huge success. Our B team, who had to play against A teams from other schools, came a credible 7th out of 8. In this tournament they narrowly lost to Rondebosch and ended the evening on a high by beating Reddam House. After a slow start to the day, our A team ended second in their pool, but kicked into gear in the semi-final with a convincing win over Western Province Prep and a resounding win over Rondebosch in the final. Micklefield won the girls section. Well done to our boys and many thanks to all the hockey staff that worked so tirelessly to make this event such a success.
Science and Art Evening
A very successful and fun evening was held last night. The boys spent hours on their artworks and have been practising their science experiments for weeks, so it was fantastic to see it all culminate in a great exhibition all round! Thanks to parents for providing all sorts of equipment and support. It is much appreciated. Thanks also for the great turnout of parents who attended. More photos are available on our website HERE.
