Dear Parents
SAFETY
I think we would all agree that the safety of our boys is paramount. However we still have difficulties with driving on and around our campuses and unfortunately within our community. Cars are still speeding down the Avenue and often only pausing very briefly at the various stop streets, so we will be installing a number of additional speed bumps as soon as possible.
Duke Road congestion and parking also remains a problem. Could I please ask that you use Duke Road as a one way going down to the station at peak times – to get back onto Belmont Road, then take Queens Road if you are heading to the Main Road, or go past the station and under the bridge if you need to go back towards Campground Road.
The security guards do put out beacons to keep the pavements close to the pedestrian crossing clear so that the crossing has maximum visibility. Please ensure that you do not park between or next to them. We will also work with the guards to ensure that they are more assertive in controlling this. In assembly this morning, I spoke to the boys about safety awareness and the rules for crossing over to Rossall. They may not run, and may only cross on the instruction of the guard.
I am sure you will support us in this – please also inform au pairs, drivers and any other family members who fetch your son.
GAMING
Our Bishops Support Unit has put out a very interesting link on their blog on the subject of “Teens who game too much” – HERE.
SPORT
We have had an exciting week of hockey against SACS with another round of games being played under lights on their astro. And tomorrow promises to be an exciting morning of rugby games at SACS too.
Enjoy the weekend.
Best wishes
