Dear Parents

This week we began with a difference. Monday was Civvies Day with all staff and boys dressed in gym gear! What a fun and busy day we all had. Sweat bands and vests, flexed muscles and exhausted little bodies were all over the school!  Zumba classes, obstacle courses, many smiles and belly laughs were the order of the day.  Thank you to all those who contributed to our cash collection.

On Monday morning at 08:00 we will be hosting a Thank You assembly for all parents who have so willingly helped this year. Please be reminded of this occasion and join us in the hall.

Time is drawing nearer to when we bid farewell to our Grade 2 boys.  What a delight it has been to witness their growth and maturity over the past three years.  From tiny little toothless smiles to fine young gentlemen who are ready for a new challenge in their lives. It is surprisingly hard to say goodbye at the end of any year, as the boys have become part of our daily lives at school.  At the same time, we get ready to welcome so many new little faces to our campus as the Grade N group for 2019 arrive!

If you find any library books at home, please would you send them back to school. We are doing a big stocktake next week and will be looking for missing books. Although boys will not be taking new books home, we will still be having library lessons so no library bags necessary.

We hope you will familiarise yourself with this 'new look' newsletter. It is now like the one sent out by the Prep School so hopefully easy to navigate.

Kind regards

GENERAL INFO
Staff Matters

At the end of this year we say goodbye to some very special people at the Pre-Prep.  Mr Zukile Ncube will be around the school but is hoping for approval to move to Japan to gain further teaching experience. Mr Ncube has become such a popular teacher and a wonderful balance to the predominantly female staff at the Pre-Prep. We are devastated to say farewell to him but trust that he will be back at Bishops in years to come. Ms Maike Felmore has secured a teaching post in Pinelands and will be starting with her new school in January.  Ms Felmore has been an amazing asset to Bishops and we will miss her immensely.  Her creativity and help with our Pre-Prep productions and her always happy, smiling face will be greatly missed. Ms Kirsty Meyer will be completing her teaching degree next year but has chosen to experience a little travel at the same time.  She has applied to work at Summer Camp in America and will then join her father in Australia for a while. Her confidence, kindness and quiet but capable demeanour will leave a big gap at Pre-Prep and we trust that she will have an exciting year before she embarks on her full-time teaching career. We welcome back Mrs Heather Fraser from maternity leave and thank Ms Megan Taljaard for the remarkable job she has done stepping into the Grade 2 class.  Ms Laura de Klerk will be returning to the Pre-Prep after spending the year in the Grade 3 section of the school. She will complete her final year of studies with us next year.  Mrs Ann van Breda and Mrs Rose Harris are also embarking on new things next year and more will be said about them in next week's newsletter.
