FROM THE PRINCIPAL - 25 MARCH 2022

Dear Parents and Guardians

I would like to thank you all for your support as we end this busy term. Once again, I am filled with a sense of gratitude for the opportunities we have been able to enjoy and the times we have spent in activities so long denied us.

At the time of writing, we received news of the lifting of certain Covid restrictions and we are delighted that not only can masks be removed outdoors, which makes complete sense, but also that greater numbers of spectators can return to watch sport. We are busy studying these restrictions as we note that proof of vaccination is required under certain circumstances. We are not sure at this stage how this will impact on school sport and attendance but we repeat our encouragement to our community to get vaccinated.

I was blessed to see our drama department in action in their collaboration with Herschel through the performance of the musical Shrek. This was a truly wonderful experience and our staff and pupils from both schools are to be highly commended for their efforts. A thoroughly entertaining evening was had by all.

I have also had an opportunity to page through the annual school magazine, capturing the life of Bishops in 2021. My grateful thanks go to all who contributed to this record but to Mr Tucker and Ms Freund in particular who had the task of editing and overseeing its production. It is a professional and dignified publication and we can be most proud of how it has turned out.

At today’s assembly, we handed out colours awards for the many activities in the first term and the names of the recipients are attached to this newsletter. We commend them on their efforts and congratulate them on their award.

I wish all parents, guardians and boys well for the upcoming holidays and hope they are a time of reflection, rest and preparation for the term ahead. The second term is the start of our winter season where so many of our boys participate in our sports programme. It is also a term of cultural significance with the staging of the Eisteddfod and then there is the matter of the June examinations which will serve as a guide for the boys on their academic progress this year. I hope the term goes well for you and your son and that you have some time together to connect these holidays after what has been a whirlwind start to the year!

Kind regards

Antony Reeler
Principal
