Dear Parents
For the last three days the campus has been relatively quiet with most boys away on camp, other than the Grade 3s and 7s. No doubt there will be many stories from camp and a number of exhausted boys.
The week began with a full Chapel Assembly in Jagger Hall (with masks) – the first since March 2020. It was wonderful to be in a space again where we could be inspired by each other’s singing and fill the hall again with our hymn singing, something we so easily take for granted. We are a singing school and our communal singing has been sorely missed. Hymn practice has started again and in the next weeks, Wednesday Music Concerts will also be starting up.
As the boys are able to pursue all their activities again without the uncertainty and regular disappointments of the last two years, there is a tangible exuberance amongst the boys; the anticipation of the full educational experience so enjoyed by them.
The season of Lent begins with Ash Wednesday on 2 March. We will hold a Family Service on Ash Wednesday at 11h00 in the Memorial Chapel. It is open to parents and any other family members, so do please join us, the first time we have been able to welcome you to share in our Service for over a year.
I will be away next week in Gqeberha for the South African Independent Schools Heads' Conference. Chris Groom will take the reins during my absence.
Enjoy this, our half-term weekend, as boys and staff take a breather with no activities this afternoon or Saturday morning.
Kind regards
GREG BROWN
