THURSDAY 21 May 2026
Dear Parents

There is an air of expectancy ahead of the Durbanville Exchange this weekend. This annual event provides a wonderful opportunity for our boys to participate in both sporting and cultural activities, develop greater independence, and enjoy time together.
Last evening, I had the pleasure of attending the annual dinner of the Bishops Hockey Supporters Club. It was a fantastic occasion that underscored both the vision and ongoing investment in our hockey programme. In a most engaging way, Tom Dawson-Squibb reminded us of the importance of clarity in both coaching and leadership.
Clarity is a principle we, as staff, will be reflecting on over the coming months. Clarity that strengthens our partnership, reduces anxiety, promotes predictability, and keeps us aligned with our mission.
Last week, Mrs Dallas provided the boys with clarity on our uniform expectations. For your reference, they are summarised below:

  • Formal uniform is required every Monday for Chapel Assembly.
  • If your son has Physical Education (PE) on Tuesday through Friday, he may arrive at school in his PE uniform, worn together with his tracksuit.

The PE uniform consists of the following:

    • Blue shorts
    • White sports shirt
    • White socks
    • Predominately white sports shoes

Please note that no sports-specific kit (e.g. hockey/rugby) may be worn as PE uniform

Thank you for your continued support of your son and our school.

Wishing our Muslim families a blessed Eid al-Adha.

Kind regards

NEWS
Ascension Day Chapel Service

Last week, the Prep gathered with families and staff to celebrate Ascension Day and reflect on Jesus’ promise: “Surely I am with you always.” Through Scripture, reflection and a memorable chapel illustration involving a lamp and power source, boys were encouraged to think about the importance of staying connected to the things that give life, strength and hope.

Our chapel reminded the boys that just as a lamp cannot shine without power, we too cannot flourish when disconnected from faith, healthy relationships and community. We reflected on the gift of the Holy Spirit  and the courage, wisdom and guidance God provides in moments of pressure, uncertainty  and challenge.

As a Prep community, we continue to encourage our boys to become young men who carry light, kindness and courage into their classrooms, homes, friendships and sports fields.

Weekly Winners
Artists of the Week: The Grade 3s focussed on their pets in Art.  Gr 3B and 3P drew themselves with their cat or dog. They couldn’t use ‘colour’ to fill in the picture, so they had to use pencil shading (tones).
Well done to the following artists:
3B: Max Basson, Tristan Dustan, Blake Lemmer, Hudson Post
3P: Asher January, Jasper Jarmain, Otondwa Maboko, Logan McGuire

Meanwhile, Gr 3S worked with different media.  They used paper tearing to create a picture of a CAT FIGHT!  (Please note that there was not drawing involved.)
Well done to the following artists:
3S: George Goudvis, Sam Miller, Matthew Pentreath, Arto Smith

Please click HERE to view all the artwork.

The U13 rugby players where awarded Rick the Bear for their consistent efforts under challenging circumstances.

This week’s Hockey Husky award went to the U13A team for the excellent progress they are making.

Well done to all these boys!
