Dear Parents

This week has marked the start of Lent for many and a time of reflection for others. Many have given up favourites for Lent, others have cleared out closets and cabinets and have chosen an item a day (40 items) to donate, representing the 40 days of Lent. Whatever you have chosen, may it be a special time for you.

I have spent this week visiting classes, looking at books and just trying to spend some time with the boys. I am so impressed with the manners the boys are showing, the work ethic they are displaying and the kindness they are trying to show to one another.  I do hope that this will continue as we practise this on a daily basis.  Please encourage your boys to say 'good morning' or 'good afternoon' to anyone they pass.  It is with this team approach that we will reap the rewards.

Thank you to those parents who have respected our request not to park or get out of the cars in the' drop and go' area in the mornings.  This certainly assists to keep the flow of traffic moving.

May you find time to create moments of total silence this weekend, to catch your breath, plug out and reset.

TAKE NOTE

Easter Egg collection

Just a little reminder about our upcoming Easter Egg collection. If you could kindly donate a box of marshmallow eggs, we would be most grateful. This is only for closer to Easter but as the shops are filling up with eggs, we thought it appropriate to share our intent.

PRE-PREP PRAYER GROUP

Message from our Youth Pastor

The Lord be with you

It has indeed been a beautiful and intriguing week as we visited the Chapel twice this week. On Wednesday we had an Ash Wednesday service which marked the beginning of the Lenten season, where we will be fasting, praying and giving alms, and the service also reminded us that even in our faults Jesus still loves us.

We reflected on the start of fasting, with Jesus being in the wilderness for 40 days and how the evil one came to tempt Jesus, and so we learnt that we will be tempted and influenced by our friends and other people to do bad things that we know we shouldn’t be doing.

We were also encouraged to resist temptations and to say NO when people want us to do very bad things that are displeasing to our teachers, parents and God, and to continue to do good things that will make our teachers, parents and God very happy with us.

Let us talk to God

Merciful God as we start this our Lenten season, remind us of our constant temptations and give us the strength and courage to be able to resist them. In Jesus name.

Amen

HIGHLIGHTS
Grade N

The Grade N boys are busy learning new games and practicing their cutting skills. Reading books is also a favourite. Muddy toes and water moats keep them very busy outside while the babies are at the 'creche'!

Grade N boys also shared a lovely birthday ring with Mrs Lottering who celebrated her birthday on Wednesday.

Grade R

Grade R boys had a blast exploring the letter ‘T’ for Talking Tess.  Games, movement rings and micro groups were filled with activities to reinforce identification of the beginning sound ‘t’ in words; touching toes and triangles was incredibly funny!

We had our telephone and fax machine out for fantasy play, and there were quite a few calls to Mums and Dads telling them what toys they need to buy!

Gilly Southwood, a firm favourite in the StoryTeller realm gave our boys a wonderful show where they heard all sorts of exciting stories told to them, as well as being invited to take part on some hilarious role play of the storybook characters.  What a fun and enthralling week!

Grade 1
The Grade 1's have been learning all about sea creatures. This week we visited our Two Oceans Aquarium to learn about rock pool life, watch a penguin feeding and gaze at our abundant sea life. We all had such fun!

Grade 2

In Grade 2 our boys drew the most beautiful Chameleons in Art! Mrs Harris certainly has a gift to get the best artists out of them every Wednesday. We are learning about Insects this term and because chameleons eat insects, they tried their hand at drawing them. We have a talented group of artists in Grade 2!

For something different, Mrs Fraser’s class ditched their books for their handwriting lesson and tried writing on a whiteboard. Look at these neat workers.
