Dear Parents

This week, while walking across our campus, I was reminded of how quickly time passes. The memory of little mischevious smiles, now linked to deep voices, tall bodies and yet still those smiles, makes one wonder how it all happened so fast.  As a mother (and now a grandmother) one realises how much happens in a year.  Each year we face something new and exciting that builds a framework for life ahead.  As teachers at the Pre-Prep it is our aim to ensure this framework is strong, firm and eventful!

After being robbed of so much by Covid-19, we are happy to launch our Grandparents/Special Guest Tea on 31 August.  You will receive more detailed information about this event.  This year we have linked it with our Readathon Week so look out for many exciting additions to the programme during that time.

Mrs Daames, Mrs Fernandez and Mrs Meredith jetted off to the Proudly Primary Teachers conference this weekend.  We know they will return revitalised and ready to share some wonderful new ideas and knowledge with us.

Wishing Mrs Krewu a very happy birthday on Wednesday 10th August.

Happy Women's Day to all the amazing ladies who refused to be erased or made invisible. Keep shining on!

Kind regards

PRE-PREP PRAYER GROUP
Message from our Youth Pastor

The Lord be with you

It has been indeed refreshing and exciting to be back with the boys this week, I didn’t realise how much of a role they contribute to my personal growth and ministry.

We reflected on the narrative about the fall of man, and how some of our actions and decisions we make have consequences. It was more interesting to learn from the boys that some rules are put in place not just to control and manage us, but sometimes to protect and look after us. While some boys advised me that sometimes when they have been given instructions and rules it is in some way exciting to go against them and try and experience what they have been restricted against.

Above all of that and the many experiences shared regarding the many regulations and rules we have broken, we learnt that there is a lot of protection and guidance given and that our actions and decisions always have consequences.. Amazingly enough we learnt that we are punished not through hate but rather from a place of love.

Let us pray

Lord Jesus, You have proclaimed that if we love You, we keep Your commandments. To walk with you is to avoid sin and wrongdoing, we should always be fighting the temptation to wrongdoing lest it rises and consumes us. Therefore, give me a willing and able desire to follow You, and wherever you may lead me let me follow as the lamb follows the shepherd, in your Holy name.

Amen

GENERAL INFO
Parking Area at Pedestrian Gate

This is a communal parking area shared by three stakeholders and during peak times it can become quite congested and so we kindly ask that parents exercise patience and consideration when dropping off and picking up boys.
HIGHLIGHTS
Grade N

The Grade N’s enjoyed a busy week making snowmen, writing names with shaving cream, fine motor popcorn activity and the best - Free play - allowing them the opportunity to learn to negotiate, make their own decisions (without being told what to do) problem solve and to share. Such fun!

Grade R

3, 2, 1 BLAST OFF!! The Grade R boys have been learning all about space this week. We’ve discussed astronauts, shared facts about the sun and the moon and learned more about the International Space Station. Did you know that the only South African who has been into space, Mark Shuttleworth, was at Bishops? Mrs Furst has learnt much from these budding astrophysicists. Our letter this week was Firefighter Fred and we played this amazing game. We stuck a picture of a word starting with ‘f’ on the forehead of one boy and the rest of the class had to give him clues so he could guess the picture. The boy’s descriptions were incredible, and many laughs were shared as Ms Korkjie gave it a shot.

The boys spent some time honing their puzzle-building skills and constructing geometric patterns on pegboards and with tiles. We created rockets and a big wobbly-limbed astronaut with our hands. We are practicing counting in 10s to 100, and in 2s and we are polishing up our knowledge of personal details in case we get lost in space! Grade R red class are looking forward to teaching coach all they know about chess at Chess class this afternoon.

Grade 1

The petting farm came to visit Grade 1 this week. The boys had so much fun feeding, cuddling, and brushing their furry and feathered friends. They also got to enjoy a tractor ride around the campus! Lots of huffing and puffing went down at the end of the week when the boys took turns to see who could floss the fastest to our troll spelling rhyme.

Grade 2

Once the Grade 2 ‘s completed all their work each day , they were given the opportunity to build puzzles in groups.

It was a wonderful opportunity for boys to learn to work together, and some very practical and logical methods were noted.

The best part was that the boys had fun!

Our boys are busy recording the weather for August and often, later in the day we hear the words “ the weather has changed!”

Rainy day weather allows our boys the challenge to build and create in the classroom during break and before school. There are some amazing creations!
