Dear Parents

How wonderful to see some parent faces on our campus again! This week we loved seeing our little Grade R boys as 'tour guides', taking their parents around and visiting the various spaces on our campus.  It has been such a long time since parents have had access to our school and we are excited to slowly being able to extend invitations to various events and to interact more freely with you all. The Grade 1 boys had an exciting morning of trading, and it was a perfect opportunity to invite parents to help set up their stalls and to have a chance to also take a tour.  Thank you to those parents who took time to visit, we do hope to offer many other opportunities in the weeks ahead.

Tonight our Grade R families head to Lugtensvale for their picnic! We hope to see many families out enjoying the fresh air!  Thank you to the organisers for putting these wonderful events together!

As with the Prep, College is based on a very strong and meaningful House system and boys are appointed as Heads and Deputy Heads of Houses. At the Matric Prizegiving a while ago the overall leadership of the pupil body was announced. We were very proud as the three boys had all been at the Prep:

Suhail Khalfey – Head of School
Robert Dicey – Deputy Head (Boarders)
Daniel Neuhoff – Deputy Head (Day Boys)

Suhail came to the Prep in Grade 4, Robert in Grade 7 and Daniel from the Pre-Prep. Click HERE to enjoy a video the boys made about themselves, and what their objectives are for 2022. Although our Pre-Prep boys are not part of a House system yet, once they move to Grade 3, they do become allocated to various Houses.

Wishing you all a wonderful weekend full of fun and sunshine.  A very happy birthday to Mrs Booysen tomorrow!

Kind regards

TAKE NOTE
Note from the Principal

These past two months, many of us have listened to the News24 podcasts that have highlighted the scourge of abuse of children in schools. This includes not only sexual abuse but emotional abuse where children have been manipulated by those in authority. Our children are most precious to us and we will do all we can to protect them as their parents. But so too will the vast majority of teachers who go out of their way to look after those in their care. They take this very seriously indeed and will go the extra mile, often at the expense of time they could have spent with their own families.

We ask you to trust the school, the Executive and the Council, as we deal with this matter. We will communicate to you as soon as we are able to do so. Schools must be places of safety and, while there are never any guarantees in life, we have to do all we can to look after our boys. There are many lessons to be learned from the podcasts for individuals and for schools but let us never forget the main issue – to keep our children safe and happy, free from any form of abuse.

PRE-PREP PRAYER GROUP

Message from our Youth Pastor

Light up our path, we pray

You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead, they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify God in heaven. (Matthew 5)

To our Hindu boys, parents, and families on an occasion to celebrate victory over defeat, light over darkness, awareness over ignorance, an occasion to celebrate life. May this auspicious occasion light up your life with happiness, joy, and peace. Happy Diwali! As you celebrated yesterday, may all that is true and good be with you and your family always.

Light is less something you see directly and more something by which you see all other things. As the words from Matthews Gospel above ring true for us all today and we navigate the course of 2021. My we see things more clearly. May we see one another, and may we bring light to those who need it most. Amen.
