Dear Parents
From a book by Steve Biddulph: Raising Boys What we all want is young men who are happy, creative, energetic and kind. We need our boys to turn into the young men who will care about others, and be part of the solutions of the twenty-first century. And in the meantime, we need them to do the dishes and tidy their rooms!
As parents and teachers, we do not have all the answers. As the world is changing and with it, the challenges of raising children, we are reminded that two children growing up in one household can be totally different. Let us celebrate these differences, encourage those who are trying hard and guide those who are talented and successful not to see themselves as better than others. Let us be the change and build our boys to become an encourager, a supporter and to show manners and kindness at all times. These are the skills that will underpin all the others and catapult them into the success we wish for each of them.
We are still working hard on our manners. Greetings, please and thank you need to be modelled every day if we want our children to display them. M for Manners is the start of our MITRE acronym. Please keep this conversation about manners alive at home too. We really appreciate your support.
Our cycle team is ready!! An enormous thank you to all those that have donated to this worthy cause and have shown faith in us! We set off at 3pm on Saturday - Mr Tsotso will be on the start line for the AVENGERS - if you still wish to donate and help us get to our R20 000 target, please go to https://www.backabuddy.co.za/team-avengers
Wishing Miss Kelly Kortjie a very happy birthday on 19 August!
Kind regards

PRE-PREP PRAYER GROUP |
Message from our Youth Pastor
The Test and Sacrifice
The reflection this week was on the trust we are to have towards God and being able to make sacrifices as well as sacrificing those things that we found most valuable and important to us, based on seeing a deeper need in those around us.
Upon reflecting on trust and sacrifice, we chose the narrative of Abraham and Sarah. God called them to trust Him with their only son. They had struggled to have a son in Isaac but found themselves having to offer him back to God. As Abraham walked up the mountain ready to do as instructed, he kept asking for strength and trusting that there would be a divine moment in the situation. I would like to encourage us all to be rooted in trusting God and the plans that He has for us.
Let us pray
Divine and intervening God, help me not to fear the future but to boldly trust that you are always in control of my life, even when I am in despair. And at moments when I am in doubt and have fallen from faith, help me to say, “You are the Lord, the comforter and author of my being and can bring stillness to my trial”, in the name of Christ.
Amen

HIGHLIGHTS |
Grade 2 |
 |
The Grade 2 Art Club has been very busy with these Pablo Picasso masterpieces over the past two weeks.
We have been very pleased to note the effort that boys have been putting in to be gentlemen. We will be handing out our second round of ‘I am a Gentleman’ badges in assembly on Monday.
We can’t share any photos otherwise they would give away the surprise, but our boys have been practising every day for the upcoming Grandparent’s Day event, something not to be missed by Grandparent's or special guests. |
Grade 1 |
 |
There has been so much to learn in during this short week. The boys started the week with our very funny story called Cheeky Charlie by Ben Redlich to introduce our new theme of Wild Animals. In Literacy we started learning about blends and during Maths we have been learning all about time and even balancing equations! The boys have been practising hard for our grandparents' day as we are so excited to be entertaining them, soon.
Sadly, we are also saying farewell to Jack Klerk and his family. We hope that he thrives at his new school in England.

Grade R |

It has been such a short week, but we managed to participate in an exciting Clay Workshop. Each class had the opportunity to make a beautiful bowl which will be kept as a special gift for our visitors during the upcoming Grandparents Day. For some this was the first time they manipulated clay and we were super impressed with their skills and creativity. A big thank you to the teachers who came to do the workshop with our boys. Excellent work boys! |
Grade N

The Grade N's have been learning about reptiles this week. We have made tortoises, paper snake chains and have taken part in many other exciting activities. We even had a real-life chameleon come and visit us at school.
