Dear Parents

This week I have tried to spend more time outside with the boys during free play.  Despite the interesting conversations and topics that they discuss, there has been laughter - that kind that comes from deep, deep down in their belly.  It cannot help but make those around them smile. What a privilege and honour to be amongst those who find time to laugh. From the book PEACE (the words and inspirations of Mahatma Gandhi - I share this very pertinent sentence:  Genuine laughter is true eloquence, and more effective than speech. May you all find time to laugh this weekend, the belly kind of laugh that lasts for a very long time.

As we head closer to Easter, out thoughts are drawn to all the mouth watering and attractive Easter Eggs on display in the stores.  Towards the end of the term, we will be having our annual Easter Egg collection (boxes of soft marshmallow eggs) which we redistribute to as many organisations as possible.  Our first delivery is usually to the children of Athwood Primary, who also receive weekly sandwiches from us. If you are perhaps passing a stack of such eggs, kindly purchase a box that you could possibly donate later this term to this very worthy cause.  I will send more information about this in the newsletters that follow.

Thank you to those parents who are still adopting our "greetings" appeal.  What a treat to hear all the "good morning" and "good afternoons" Please continue, as this is the way we can influence the future which is in the hands of these very little people.

Happy Birthday to Mrs Doris Lottering who is celebrating her birthday on Thursday!

Kind regards

In Honour of Archbishop Emeritus Desmond (Mpilo) Tutu

On the Friday leading up to Human Rights Day, we plan to Honour the memory of Desmond Tutu. His legacy of TOGETHERNESS. In light of this, we have invited the 3-6 year old children from the VUSA creche in Khayelitsha to join us for a day of fun, games and TOGETHERNESS. We will spend the day playing and engaging with them and treat them to a slice of pizza and some treats with us. We do hope this goes a little way in reaching out to others.

PRE-PREP PRAYER GROUP
Message from our Youth Pastor

The Lord be with you

This has been a beautiful and exciting week, we have had a look at the Transfiguration of Jesus and the declaring voice again from the heavens which affirms that Christ is God's beloved Son, and this is recorded in the book of Luke 9:28-36.

And so to this narrative we looked at the life cycle of a butterfly as it transforms from being a caterpillar all the way to being a beautiful, colourful and flying butterfly, and so we understood that we can be transformed to better than we already are by the love of God. We also took a moment to look forward in anticipation for next week Wednesday the 2nd of March, when we will be celebrating Ash Wednesday, which reminds us of giving alms, praying and repentance(changing).

Let us pray

Lord, Father of Jesus you transformed your Son on top of the mountain and declared that he was your beloved, transform us your children into beautiful butterflies so that in our transformation you may be reflected throughout the world. Amen
