Dear Parents
Thank you to all those parents that attended our Coffee Connections this morning. Ms Claire du Toit presented on "The power of Play" which is something that we as a school are very passionate about. Thank you to all those that completed our survey, we hope to be able to bring you more informative talks in the near future.
As we end off this short week, we are reminded of the reason for the public holiday we enjoyed. Many of the boys were not familiar with Freedom Day or the reason we were able to stay off school. We have tried to open discussions and put various visual reminders up around the school, explaining the significance of Freedom Day. We urge parents please to continue these conversations at home, so that boys can grow up being informed and aware of these holidays. We head into another 4 day week of which 2 May is Workers Day and we ask once again, that this is discussed with your son for it to become meaningful and informative.
Wishing all our Muslim families Eid Muburak. May you all have a lovely weekend.
Kind regards
SHARLENE GROOM

TAKE NOTE |
Gum boots
In the previous newsletter, we mentioned that Grade N and R boys are permitted to wear navy gum boots to school in the rainy weather. It seems that plain gumboots (which would be first choice) are difficult to find. We therefore would accept the navy boots with the solid colour base, as available at most stores. If you are able to locate plain navy boots, they however would be preferable. |

PRE-PREP PRAYER GROUP |
Message from our Youth Pastor
Christ is risen
He is risen indeed, Alleluia
This has been a week where we reflected on the encounter of Saul on his way to Damascus, and how he had been a doer of many bad and evil things, like the persecution of Christian believers with the obsession to arrest and sometimes kill them. Unfortunately for him on his way to Damascus, he had an encounter with God and his life was immediately transformed from a persecutor to a Gospel preacher.
For the boys and I, it was fun to learn some of the very cute and unusual nicknames we are called at home by our parents, at school by our teachers and on the playground by our friends. We therefore learnt that God didn’t just convert Saul in character, but He gave him a new name which is Paul. And we marvelled at how God can transform us from bad people to good people and prayed that changing power be around us.
Let us pray
Dear God. Thank you for loving each one of us even though we don’t deserve your love. May we feel the transforming power of Jesus in our lives. Please help us to become more like You with each new day. We thank You that we are able to worship You freely and we pray for those in countries who are still persecuted for their faith. Amen |

HIGHLIGHTS |
Grade N |
 |
Easter egg hunts, cargo loading and Teamwork all making up a busy and cooperative Grade N day! |
The Easter Story |
 |
Last week we enjoyed a wonderful presentation on the Easter Story by Mr and Mrs Brien. Thank you for taking the time to come and share the wonders of Easter with us in such an exciting way! |
Grade 2 |
 |
Grade 2F started the week with presenting an assembly to the school about ‘Broken promises and keeping promises’. Our message was a different perspective on Easter, looking at how Jesus always keeps his promises to us, even when we think that he hasn’t heard our cries. We continued with kite building and found new inventive ways of getting our kites to fly high! We learnt about Freedom Day and what it meant all those years ago when big changes took place in South Africa. It was a short week, but jam packed with lots of learning and of course, lots of fun! |
Grade 1

The Grade 1’s have been having such fun exploring our Mathematics areas of Number concept, Measuring and Space and Shape this week with all our concrete apparatus. |
Grade R

The Grade R boys have been exploring the Fire theme this week with great enthusiasm. From screeching sirens going ‘Neenah, Neenah!” on scooters, to rescue attempts in full uniform, our boys took full advantage of the great weather and became FIREFIGHTERS! We added the traffic official uniforms too, and some decided to multitask and try both occupations by wearing all the uniforms they could! We look forward to our upcoming Fire Station outing for the Grade R boys.
